Been looking for this one for a while. Last time I had it was in the late 90s (believe it was 1995 vintage I had in 97).

Was an amazingly complex beer but I wasn't ready for how 'still' it was.

Years have passed and I've had tons of IPAs and BA Stouts recently so I've wanted to revisit some of my favorites of the past: Rochefort 10, St Bernardus 12, Chimays and some other Belgians I haven't consumed oddly enough: Boone Marriage Parfait, Boon Oude Gueuze, Timmerman's Limited Edition...etc.

I've found a new enjoyment level of these classics that are clogging up the shelves out there. Pretty amazing and have really discovered I like these beers even more today.

Found a dusty old 2005 on the shelf today of Thomas Hardy Ale which I will enjoy tonight. Anyone seen Thomas Hardy recently in shops? I know they stopped producing in roughly 2008 but they just recently started up again a couple years ago. Would love to try the new version.

Would love to hear others thoughts on the state of beer at package stores nowadays with the classics they've seen sitting around and others that have tried some of these classics recently. The good news is the stores are aging them for me/us, I guess.

    Cheers!

Ah the days when Barleywines, Belgians and boozers were all the rage. I've got a cellar full which I indulge in about as often as the wife asks "why do you need to go on a beer run when you have so much in the cellar!" The palate shift to drier beers is real people.

I picked up a couple of bottles of the 2005 vintage recently. Maybe we were at the same shop!

Last I saw Downtown Wine and Spirits in Davis Square had a few bottles of 2007. I snagged one last year I think? Haven't really looked for it there since, might be worth a call.

I'll probably drink it this year because I was waiting for it to turn 10 years old. The last time I had it was at one of the first Extreme Beerfests, might have been a 20+ year bottle...that was long ago, and that night was fuzzy.

Pretty sure I saw Thomas Hardy's at the Craft Beer Cellar outlet in Waterbury VT last week. Don't remember vintage but do remember seeing the little bottle w/ the yellow label

In case you live down the south shore, I used always see these at Mucky's in Middleborough. Just haven't been in there in about 6 months.

I would imagine Nikki's would have a decent selection - since they always have cellar stuff out. Never been, myself.

I wouldn't drive there without calling, but you might call Spirit Haus in Amherst, MA if you can get there.

Forgot this beer existed. I had a 1978 or 1979 in the 2007 timeframe and it was godawful. The silver anniversary (vintage 1993) I opened around the same time was stellar.
