Before I posted an ISO (rare for me, usually just cherry pick or trade with regulars), just wanted to get a pulse... I have kind of desired to try this beer for some time. I NEVER see it on the forums, and a couple of searches came up only regular, not BB stuff. Anyone tried it? I know the ratings are not perfect, but they do mean SOMETHING, and the regular is rated enough higher to have me question whether I should seek out the BB version. I LOVE the regular, and it is easily accessible, not to mention what is already in my cellar of it. Discuss, and thanks in advance for input.
BA Serpents might be a lil tough to land, for if im not mistaken BA Serpents has never actually been released, just a very small amount of bottles made it out of the brewery for employees/friends? I have had BA Serpents, and though I thought it was really good, there are better BA Stouts out there.
Deliverance is a blend of BA Serpent's Stout and Brandy Angels Share. It's the only way BA Serpent's Stout makes it into a bottle.
Churchill's Finest Hour 2010 Churchill's Finest Hour 2011 Churchill's Finest Hour 2012 All of these have Barrel Aged Serpent's Stout in them. I suspect we'll see another version of Barrel Aged Serpent's in the future. Also, someone got a keg from a bar and did hand bottles of Barrel Aged Serpent's in the past. That's where the bottle reviews come from.
I had something that claimed to be a BA Serpent's stout with coffee and Cacao at CBC that was quite good. As other people have said it doesn't go into bottles alone, but it shows up on tap somewhat often at events in CA, if you're ever around (I think I saw it a few times during SF beer week, for instance).
it's delicious, but your best bet is probably going to be a beer fest or special lost abbey event or something along those lines if you want to try it. maybe some handbottles or small growlers will arise again, but trading for stuff like that can get insane.
