Red's Rye has to be my second or third favorite beer right now. Absolutely one of the most amazing things I've tasted... And for the first Rye Beer I've had, just a memory to hold. Although for some reason it sort of reminds me of Stone ABA but with the Rye flavor. I don't understand how you wouldn't like it if you like Double Trouble which is also pretty great. Really want to try the breakfast stouts myself.

Centennial IPA, Red's Rye PA, and All Day Session IPA are all favorites of mine because they are all great examples/benchmark of the types of beers that they are (single hop IPA, rye pale ale, and sessionable IPA). The FBS, Imperial Stout and Porter are also very good. I didn't mind FMB and i think there is a lot more negative comments out there than there should be. Blushing Monk is outstanding if you can get your hands on it (MentorBeerGuy has one bottle just waiting to be opened). IMHO, KBS is overrated and there are much better barrel-aged stouts out there.

Another addition to this (understandably) laudatory thread.

I wasn't super into craft when CBS was out, I haven't had KBS yet, but everything I've tried by them has been pretty amazing, with the possible exceptions of Devil Dancer and Spite. In fact, I just picked up my third bottle of Bolt Cutter (despite the price tag) and my fourth bottle of Frangelic Mountain Brown.

I had this last night, paired with a nice medium rare steak and totally changed my world.

Backwoods Bastard was what got me started on great craft beer and it remains my favorite because I love BA beer and scotch ale is my style of choice. Dirty Bastard is still a favorite as it is readily accessible and a delicious scotch. I'll be on the hunt for my first KBS this year

Excluding the backstage series, Founders Porter is incredible, one of my favorite Porters. And of course the Breakfast Stout is great.

    Love Love Love founders.

Enjoying an FBS as we speak.
Truly a perfect breakfast beer that's
as good with eggs as it is a bowl of frosted flakes.

I agree with your beer sentiments. Not sure they're one of the most overrated in the world, but I certainly think over-hyped would apply. I keep (foolishly) picking up all their special releases hoping to taste what so many others apparently get, and I am continuously dissapointed. Their best beer in my opinion is their porter, hopefully I can learn my lesson and stick with the basics.

From what offerings I've had Founders is one of my favorite breweries. Breakfast Stout and the Porter are 2 of my favorite beers period. The Pale Ale is ok. I also like Dirty Bastard and love Backwoods Bastard. I have yet to try the really limited releases though (Boltcutter should be in my fridge in about a week.) With that being said I almost bought a 4 pack of Harvest Ale before I saw 2012 Celebration Ale for 7.69 a sixer.

I think that Founders Porter is OUTSTANDING! It I my favorite American Porter and to me that beer is luscious!!

I also enjoy drinking the Red’s Rye.

Some of their beers which I think are mediocre are Devil Dancer and Centennial IPA.

I have enjoyed the Kentucky Breakfast Stout on draft in the past. I am not a big fan of the ‘regular’ Breakfast Stout.

I recently tried the Bolt Cutter and I did not enjoy drinking that beer; too cloying sweet for my palate.

I hope to try the All Day IPA someday; it sounds tasty.

    Cheers!

    Hmmm...
    1) Firestone Walker
    2) CCB
    3) Great Divide
    4) Avery
    5) The Bruery

    Founders didn't make it.
    I love them though.
