So, I realize that this is a relatively new release and there are a few reviews up on the website, but I'm wondering if people have had this yet and, if so, what their thoughts were on the beer. I have acess to it but given how expensive it is (I'm seeing anywhere from $30 to $40 for a bottle), I'm wondering if it's worth it. I really enjoy old ales and I really love bourbon barrel aged beers (BB4D may be my favorite beer, period), but at that much for a bottle, I'd really like to know if it's not just good, but great before I buy it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

It's worth buying two - one to age and one to drink now (or preferably, try a glass on draft now and age a bottle).

I think the Bruery's anniversary ales have gotten better each year. I wasn't a big fan of Papier or Coton - the heat and sweetness were over the top for me - but the solera method has improved each year's batch. That said, while it's less rough when fresh than previous editions, a year or two will do wonders for this IMO.

Fruet will arrive in Indianapolis this week and I'm definitely going to be buying at least two.

I had it on tap at the bruery provisons and proceeded to buy a bottle to age for a while. I really enjoyed it didn't think it had too much heat at all. I'd recommend it.

As with most of their beers, it is both tasty and overpriced.

I need to get my hands on this somehow, I wonder if it is still possible(I missed out on the Letspour deal..)

Also: People pay upwards of $100 or more for bottles of wine, yet a 100% BBA 15.5% Old Ale is what is overpriced. Makes no sense. I have no problem buying it at the price offered. I bought Coton, Cuir, and Marron Acidifie without even thinking twice about it.

I loved it. The best of the anniversary beers so far in my opinion (including 100% BA Cuir).

I sat on a bottle of cuir for a few months due to the price but absolutely loved it when I eventually opened it. Now that the price is nearly double since its 100% BA I'm just going to pass this year. I'm sure its fantastic though.

I paid low 20's for Cuir last summer. Fruet is running $35-40 around me. Thats nearly double in my book.

ok that is almost double i guess but around here cuir was 25 and fruet is 30 so not a huge difference even though cuir was only 25%

How does it not make sense? You are comparing two completely different things. How about comparing Bruery's beers to similar offerings from other brewers that are cheaper. Like Fruet vs. Kuhnhenn's 4th Dementia, which is significantly less per oz. yet rated much higher.

I just bought a bottle...I can't wait to try it. Although slightly pricey, The Bruery, ALWAYS brings their "A" game. If you have the extra cash, I would go for it!

Ohh...I dunno. This was still a bit young. 100%BA Cuir was the tits man.

Fruet is a good beer. You should buy one. to the OP I mean.

    Cheers!

Let me know where I can get BB4D off of a shelf. The only BA old ale I can think of that's on shelves is BA Old Stock, and that's just as expensive per ounce.

    Usually at Kuhnhenn's...

Your point is dead-on, though. It's way easier to get Fruet pretty much across the country than anything even close to as good.
