In terms or pricing, it should be priced at the level to keep it on shelves for the next 11 months until the next release. Believe it or not, that is the correct pricing model, and not the King Henry pricepoint where people hoard it all and resell it.

Split this with a friend last night and it was thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely a sipper, but not really all that hot for the ABV. Lots of complexity, with a nice sweetness to it. Whether its worth the price or not, I'm not sure but for a one time buy I'd recommend it to anyone who would appreciate it.

If possible, I would recommend splitting the price, with a couple others, and share. This is an excellent beer.

I don't think that I am going to cellar my only bottle though; when I tried it last weekend, although delicious, there was something peculiar about the carbonation in the mouthfeel. Kind of a crispness/sparkling hint that you would not expect in this style of beer. I attributed it to the fact that it was bottled recently and dismissed the idea from any further consideration until I noticed this thread. Anyone else notice this, or am I being a foolish poophead?

I think Fruet is going to be a winner! Just had a Bruery tasting with my local BA's tasting group last weekend. We drank CR, BT, both smoking woods, Oude Tart, Saison Rue, and Saison Lente. I am throughly impressed with how the Bruery can take massive & malty high ABV beers and make them fairly mellow/smooth. Love me those BA Old Ales and I have spent $26 on a bottle of 09' BA Old Stock Ale. It was worth every penny, no regrets... its even in my top ten highest reviewed beers out of over 400 beers. Fruet should really be tasty! Also saw some comments on the Carl Strauss 23 BA Old Ale; drank that gave it a good score as well. Curious to see how Fruet stacks up to that beer.

Just passed this up at $29.99 a bottle. I am sure it is great...but I just could not justify the price...am I truly missing out?

I think the issue for me at that price is that it's new and has not gained the reputation. Splitting it would be great but most of my friends are not into craft beer as much as I am.

Have you had a BA Bruery Anniversary beer before? If not I'd go for it.

I bought one to share with my girlfriend's family, they mostly liked it (although not all of them are into that kind of beer). It's very approachable for what it is, I'm glad I have a few more coming from the RS.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't had anything from The Bruery. I mean it isn't an outrageous price, just more than I'd like to pay for that size bottle.

Really? Think of it like a $30 bottle of wine. You share it with people and drink it over the course of a night.

True, I am speaking with a buddy now about splitting it. And yeah, $30 for a bottle of beer seems like a lot until you walk over to the wine section.

This is inaccurate. Both have overhead like workers comp, income tax, employee benefits, barrels, ingredients, glass bottles, sanitation, rejected batches, advertising, branding, distribution, alcohol beauracracy etc. . .

    Far from "completely different".

From the store's perspective, shouldn't it be priced in a manner where they can turn a quick profit, and get other beers on the shelf? Shelf space & quick turnover = mo' $$$

Amazing to see so many balking at the price of this. I could have never imagined anyone complaining about finding something like 100% Cuir on their local shelf at ~$32. That would have been a no-brainer for most.

I picked up a bottle (yet to drink it), but I'm already planning to grab another very soon.

I'm not saying it isn't worth it. I'm saying I am on a budget. I don't think I could put in on layaway. LOL

I was talking more about the industries. The beer and wine industries are completely different IMO, which is a good thing for beer-lovers. :grinning:

I picked up a bottle recently, I'm debating on whether to drink it now or hold on to it for a while. It was $35 where I bought it at in Indiana.

My $32 price isn't so bad compared to some. I put mine away. Ideally, I'll get a chance to taste it at a bottle share or event of some sort. Not anxious to buy another bottle just to try it now.

I bought one bottle the first moment I saw it several weeks ago, had never even heard of it and knew only that it was a Bruery anniversary beer. I wasn't even aware of the price until I'd already swiped my card. At the time I was like, shit, I just spent more than $30 on a bottle of beer. Something I don't do everyday. Then I started reading through this thread and, based on that as well as some of the early reviews, decided to buy another bottle a week or two ago. Was just in the same shop again the other day and they still have it in stock... Pretty great that this beer seems to be making it all over the place. Can't wait to try this, but knowing myself I'll do just that. I still have the one bottle of 25% Cuir I bought last year.

i dont understand how people are turned off by the price if this is the same price point as melange #3 and black tuesday and just as good (i like it better than black tuesday myself).

so you have to ask yourself, would you pass up a bottle of black tuesday if you saw it on the shelf for $30?

all of the bruery beers are a bit more expensive than most to boot, but this one id consider world class and almsot justifiable for atleast one bottle
