Tried it on draft recently - though not a show-stopping beer of Euro quality, a nice clean beer that's miles ahead of Jabby Brau IMO in approximating a true traditional lager. JA has proven they can hit the "ale ticking" segment, hopefully they can start nailing the straight-up lagers.

Look forward to drinking this beer more often.

I always like a good German Pils, and Sunny Ridge did not disappoint.

I wish it would take the place of jabby on the year round lineup honestly. I think the bread and butter for them is in the "ale ticking" segment though.

Glad you started this thread, as I was also curious what others thought. I think we're pretty much on the same page. These are my thoughts from another thread in the Germany forum.

"First up was Jack's Abby's new German pilsner, Sunny Ridge. This one actually uses German malts unlike their IPLs, so that's a good sign. This was a crisp, fairly easy drinker, but there was something not quite there with the malt. The beer didn't come together as well as its authentic German counterparts. That being said, I found it better than their other stab at a normal pilsner, Pro-Am, their Czech Pilsner. This one came in at 5.1%, was not a hop-focused beer, and was drinkable enough. This was only one beer and I still have one, as I don't like judging a beer from 'just one.'"

I was kinda bummed on Jack's Abby until I had this. Stoked to have some fresh pils on hand

Not that they aren't one of the best breweries in MA but when they first opened I guess I expected more traditional lagers.

Yup. It is in six packs as the spring seasonal. I got it at Julio's just because we were in the area - not a pilgrimage. According to chatter on their FB page, it is being called a German Edel Pils - which I believe means "noble" so in reference to the hops?

At any rate, I did try this and thought it was excellent. Whether it is exact to the standards being called out here or not I don't really know, but it seems to tick a lot of the boxes. Crisp, well-hopped, floral, some citrus on the finish, and a little on the bitter side with a touch of sweetness. YMMV....

I thought it was Eh. Would rather drink something with a little more malty depth. It won't be replacing my eurolager purchases in the future.

I didn't drink them side by side, but I didn't think this one was all that different from Jabby. Biscuity malt - check, lightly hoppy - check, good drinkable balance - check, interesting -... .

I wasn't to big on it. Would rather have a Radeberger myself.

I didn't really think too much of this. I'd rather just drink Labatt Blue over paying a premium on this pils.

I love this beer. Really do. Also, the Pivo Pils by Firestone Walker is very good as well.
