Seems like alot of people start convos then disappear, without closing the conversation or letting know of interest or disinterest,

Are people just afraid of backlash from not being interested?

I dont really care if anyone just up and ignores my messages but, I have been chewed out for just saying that a trade offer didnt interest me.

    Thoughts fellow beer bretheren?

The thing that bothers me most is when people don't respond to messages at all. Whether I am interested or not in an offer I will at least give you the common courtesy of a follow up message letting you know.

Thats what i do too, when people just ignore its like okay, i wasnt gonna get mad or anything, maybe they fear disgruntled BAs lol

By not replying it pisses me off more, it makes me more inclined not to deal with them down the road if a trade opportunity pops up.

Haha I almost started a similar thread.
I don't understand someone starting a convo with you or if you appropriately start a message in response to their thread and then they just go dark mid stream. Guess they'd rather ignore than a simple polite "no thanks" etc. type of message.

Sometimes it's the types of replies that get me ticked off. One huge pet peeve of mine is when I take the time to write out a thought-out response to someone and then they respond back to me with brief, semi-vague sentence fragments with no capitalization, punctuation, etc. Take the time to communicate like an intelligent (even semi-intelligent) adult or you're not even worth dealing with.
Sorry, I had to vent! This has happened to me numerous times recently and I'd almost rather get no response at all.

If it has only been an hour I'd wait a little longer before getting upset. I often send messages on my way to work, on break at work, before dinner, before bed, etc and don't always check for messages all the time.

Posted an ISO:FT that was way off value-wise (I was selling myself short bc I didn't know the trade value of the bottle was so high). Inbox blew up with 41 messages. Turned into an auction trade when that wasn't my intent. But I responded to each and every one of the people who messaged me. I felt it was the only right thing to do since it was my own fault anyway.

I stated explicitly in my profile info that I will not deal with anyone down the line if they don't have the courtesy to respond. I also make a point to respond to every single message I get regardless of what it's about. I can't tell you how many times I saw those same uncourteous people posted trades and questions that I have answers to or exact beers to trade that I simply disregard. Courtesy goes a VERY long way and it starts with good communication.

I feel everyones pain. I just had two conversations where we agreed to ratios and beers and then crickets. It's been 2 days now and I have even followed up with "Hey, just want to know your thoughts on our trade? Please get back to me" and nothing.

I mean I know they probably landed a better offer, but to not even give me the opportunity to make a better one. Like everyone else on this thread, just venting.

So do you keep a list of everyone who doesn't respond to you?

No, I have pretty good memory. It's not like it's a huge "list" anyway.

This seems to be happening more and more, as people get multiple offers from trade posts and then just abandon all of the one's they aren't making the deal with. Even more irritating is when they reach out to YOU, start a conversations asking about a beer/trade, and THEN disappear.

I called someone on that exact thing recently and was accused of "being entitled and acting like a jilted girlfriend". I guess thats the mentality a lot of people have now

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who gets really irritated by all the stuff previously mentioned. The worst, for me, is agreeing to beers and ratios and then they go silent. I give the benefit of the doubt and send a courtesy message after a few days. If they read that and don't respond, I send another telling them I'm moving on. I don't have time to chase people around for trades.

Fortunately, I haven't run across this, but I'm relatively new to the trading game....it would piss me off though

By the way, here is my last entry on this supposed trade thread I had.
"Hey <OP>. I know you are new to the scene, but just for future trades, be courteous and respond even if you have a better trade offered. We have a big network here on BA and word spreads fast. You are going to be burned in the future if you don't communicate. And you never know, I could have countered with better stuff than you are getting. Good luck with your trading as I'm am moving on with your cricket responses."
