It bugs me when I post something for a trade and someone messages me and says, "I'm actually not looking for x, I'm looking for y. If you have y I'll do this trade." If I wanted to trade away beer y, I would have listed it.

This is so annoying. Last night I had an instance where I offered a guy something on his ISO list for his FT beer, he read my message one minute later and didn't respond. Fine, I'm ok with taking some time to get back to people. This morning, still no response so I checked the original post only to see it had been edited to remove the beer I had offered.

Umm, is it really that hard to message someone saying sorry I think I'd rather go for a different beer?

2nd time this month I've had something like this happen. I don't do a lot of trading outside my regular guys, but I think I'm going to start using the ignore feature more liberally. With all the great BAs out there, no time to waste on people like this IMO.

I had 3 in the past 2 weeks that I said I can do the trade for the exact items the traders ISO, both read soon after, both didn't respond. I thought about using the "ignore" feature, but then that means they won't see my complaint or my future trade posts that if they respond to, I'll promptly ignore .

Happens all the time, I chalk it up to gauging a trade, generally just taking a sniff. I just delete it and forget it.

I must say I was guilty of a foul on here. I brought up a possible trade for a beer of mine in this forum. My inbox blew up and I thought I answered everyone, but I didn't. For me if I don't get a response than that must mean no good. I would like a response to everything I send so that wasn't cool on my part.

In short I want a response to messages I send. My bad for dropping the ball on my end recently.

If it was not an actual ISO:FT post, those messages are basically not solicited. If the trade is clearly hot and you got bombarded with messages, people usually know that you won't be able to get back to everyone. If you updated the post as "closed, sorry couldn't respond to everyone" that would be perfectly understandable.

I've had the experience of being in discussion through the messenger in regards to a trade and the OP says he's definitely interested and never responds after that. I agree, people should have some etiquette to reply that they're not interested or something else came through.
