I had just posted in the worst beer you've tried thread and it made me think. I posted that Nathalius may have been the worst beer I've ever tried. Straight drain pour for me. But then I thought about Fatamorgana which honestly was one of the better DIPA's I've ever had. Thinking back on it the Nathalius may have been older due to the fact it was an import. The reason I ask what your thoughts are is because I have never seen anyone post anything about this brewery or the beers from it. I have tried the two mentioned above as well as Nebuchadnezzar which was pretty solid as well. I currently have a Hypnopompa in the cellar.

    Thoughts?

Never had Nathalius, but I've really enjoyed everything I have had from them - Brewmance is a favorite, along with Hypnopompa, as well as all of their IPAs. I love Fatamorgana, Nebuchadnezzar was good, and recently had Zodiak and 411 Smoothie IPA. Both excellent. They can be a bit pricey but are almost always worth it.

Didnt read your other post but I would think that your nathalius must have been old and oxidized. I've only had it once and it was definately a showstopper. There is a store near me that has a bunch of omnipollo ipas but they've all got to be years old at this point. When I first went to the store I asked the owner how old they were and he said he had no idea. two years later they are still collecting dust. Don't think I've ever seen a date code on one of the bottles.

If you ever get a chance to try Fatamorgana that hasn't sat on a shelf for a year you should give it a shot. Amazing

Is their name in reference to some sort of all-powerful chicken god?

Yellow Belly, their peanut butter biscuit stout, a collab beer with Buxton out of the UK is one of the best beers I've ever had.

Also interesting to note, the bottle is packaged to look like it's wearing KKK robes (hence the beer name I assume).

Fatamorgana is one of a handful of beers I've had that I vividly remember, and it was a few years back while living in Vermont. High price tag, but it made me forget about HT and Lawson's for a minute, and that was nice.

Edit: Agreed, it is one of the better DIPA's I've ever had :grinning:

I'm actually thrilled to see a Omnipollo post on here. The Fatamorgana is a great brew but I feel like it doesnt get as much love because it's an import. I had it on draft at Row34 in Boston. Awesome restaurant for seafood and dynamite beer.

Nathalius was just a test. A DIPA brewed with rice and corn. I did not like it either so bitter and unballanced, but my friend loved it.

All in all. Henok and Karl is 2 really awesome and super nice guys that brewes really good beers.
Omnipollo may be Swedish but Fatamorgana is brewed at 18th street and most of the other beers is brewed in Belgium just like Mikkeller.
Some at local breweries in Sweden and a handfull at Buxton.

Yellow Belly, hides behind robes. Yes it has a lot to do with KKK.
Henok has Affrican roots, so I guess he has been though alot grewing up in Sweden.

Tried their Agamemnon. Pretty decent, very drinkable beer. Not a standout, but I wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers.

If they weren't so old by the time they reached Ohio I would be more inclined to give them a shot. The same goes for hopped Mikkeller offerings.

    Awesome labels though!

Love their beer. Always willing to have it on draft and in bottles at the shop. It's great quality liquid.

Great beer! Don't know how often you see Buxton over there, but they are definitely worth checking out if you can get a hold of them.

More overpriced "fancy schmancy" beer that frankly the industry doesn't need.

"oh hey look, we've got some bad ass graphics on our label, buy our beer, because we are edgy. Go ahead and pay that ridiculous markup - it's craft, baby."

I have never tried any bottles, but I had their Stillwater Premium Remix on tap at Side Project, and my friend and I thought it was fantastic and pretty unique.

Fatamorgana is incredible. However since they dont date their bottles, and the bottles usually sit around on the shelves for a long time, it is hard for me to justify purchasing.

Fatamorgana on tap though is one of the best IPAs ive ever had.
