back in the 80's it was ground breaking beer. Its still good beer, folks brains and taste buds are just out of whack, seriously. The beer is still very good, its just that its old world styles. Which so many Americans do not like. Why? Hell if I know.

My only issue with them is price their 6 packs are nearing 9 bucks allot and up now and that does not make me happy, so I go to SN beers.

I don't enjoy the yeast profile on most of their beers - lagers are just not clean enough and usually too estery for my tastes in lager - and I've had plenty other styles with obvious technical faults -especially diacetyl. I find it sad that I have had great beers at the pilot brewery in JP - even the boston lager is hoppy and delicious - but hardly ever have a good experience on tap or from a bottle. Kind of impressed though that I recently had a bottle of boston lager that tasted exactly as I remember the first one I had in 1991 - somewhat cidery.

Two words: Cranberry Lambic. They lost me there, and I haven't been back. The fact that they would use the title (lambic) on that beer is outrageous to me/IMO. All the history, uniqueness, awesomeness of lambic and they think, "we'll call it that". And to think of all the uninitiated beer people who drink that first, and then think that's what a lambic is...:grimacing:

Sam Adams makes some of the best beers in the world. Their Brewers are fantastic!

I'm a fan. Still love Boston Lager and relish the fact that I can get it almost anywhere.
Their seasonal mixed packs are a staple in my fridge year-round, too.

I view Sam Adams as the recruiter for the craft industry. They have converted countless BMC drinkers and continue to do so, so I for one applaud them even if I don't personally like all their beers.

I'm new-ish to beer and I really started with Sam Adams. Most of my beer reviews are from that company, and I like a good number of the beers I've had from them.

As for Boston Lager ... I find that to still be one of my favorite Sam Adams beers...

I'm usually not an IPA fan, but Latitude 48 was pretty good and I like their summer seasonal.

Latitude 48 grew on me every time I had it, and their Summer Ale is pretty decent ... though I'm not sure I could ever let myself drink it again after experiencing Oberon. Oh mylanta...

I usually dont have any in my fridge, but when I'm travelling it is my trustworthy go-to whenever I am in an unfamiliar airport or city (and I didn't do my homework on the local craft scene). That being said, there is a place here selling growlers of Old Kentucky Ale, I will most likely go pick one up.

Does anyone know anything about the Longshot series? Is this even a series? I had a friend asking about it and I told them I would investigate. They said they were looking for "Sam Adams Longshot" and to me it looked like there was more than 1 Longshot beer.

Noble Pils is phenomenal. I yearn for the day when it comes in 12 packs of cans.

SA makes great beer. I can see why elite beer snobs may not like it, but fortunately I don't require all my beers to have 5,000 IBU's or be aged in PvW barrels.

    Haha, I love it.

I agree. The only SA's I can say I truly dislike are Whitewater IPA (Most bitter beer I think I've ever tasted... and I've had a good number of IPA's) and their Imperial Stout. All I get from that is soy/steak sauce. REALLY nasty..

Overall I am a huge fan of Sam Adams. I probably love more of their beers than I don't like.

    For example I love the Octoberfest,Holiday Porter,BL,L attitude IPA,Noble Pils,Pumpkin,Coffee Stout,Feziwig Ale,ETC.

Not a big fan of the Cherry Wheat(to me it tastes like cough syrup),Summer Ale,Dunklewizen,White Ale.

A lot of people seem to dislike Cherry Wheat ... I think it's decent, but it tastes much better when out of the tap and paired with Guinness.

I dont mind most of Sam Adams beers. Alpine Spring was god awful (I wish it never came out). Most of the other stuff is worth drinking. I know its not gonna be like Founders or Cantillon or Stone, but the beer is solid.

I haven't had Alpine Spring ... how is it? I figure since it's a Spring beer it'd taste like soil.
