Thoughts on Schneider's Porter-Weisse porter/weizenbock?

I haven't, but you can't go wrong with any of there beers. All top notch, world class German brews.

 

I liked it plenty, but didn't think the whole was greater than the sum of its parts.

 

As long as it's better than their Tap 5... blech.

 

Great review from one of my favorite beer bloggers--I particularly love how he gives us a history of the different styles and of the new style.

 

OP, thanks for sharing. I'm interested in trying this if I can ever find it. I'm quite impressed by how that guy writes a beer review. I should read more of them and maybe my reviews will improve.

 

I'd agree with this assessment. It's a pretty solid weizenbock and I enjoyed it, but it's not really world-class. The sort of features you'd associate with a porter, while present, are not very prominent.

If you've liked the other Schneider & Sohn products you've tried, you'll probably like this one. If you see a bottle and the price doesn't make you scoff then it's worth a shot, but I wouldn't go out of my way to track it down.
