    Hey everyone,
I am fairly new to home brewing and I want to work on creating my own all grain recipe. I have done a couple of kits so far and they come out good. I don't know what style I want to try out first, possibly a pale ale. I was wondering if experimenting with a single malt and single hop base of ingredients because of me being a science nerd and changing variables is what we do in Bio classes. I am also open to trying out new yeast strains because that is going to be one of my independent studies next semester, however those are wild yeasts and will be very unpredictable. I wanted to hear some opinions on this subject.
    Thanks,
    D

If you really want to nerd it up, every time you do a SMASH beer, split it into two buckets and try two very different yeasts. You would be amazed at the difference between a saison yeast and something simple like US05, or even the differences between US05 and Nottingham.
