Had the Koval version of this the other night and thought it was fantastic. Good mouthfeel and kinda hot but loved the barrel presence. Was a pleasant surprise to find it at a couple local bottle shops. Where the hell was the heads up on this seeing distro this year fellow BAs?:astonished:

Anyone had both the Koval and the Templeton Rye versions? Any real difference?

Haven't given this a shot yet. Saw them the other day at $6.50/12 oz bottle and balked at the price. Is this a reasonable price, and if not, what's everyone else paying?

Can anyone taste a difference between the two versions?

When I bought the 2012 version, it was an $18 22oz. bomber.

Last year I bought them at $6/bottle from GB. And the same price this year.

$6.50/12 oz bottle in distro isn't bad at all, comparatively.

Still haven't cracked this year's, but have always thought the Journeyman versions were GB's best beer each year. I will get around to cracking one soon.....

Had the Koval version last night after drinking a 2014 Proprietors. It surprisingly held up against the Proprietors really well. Definitely recommend pick up a 4 pk if you come across it.

Thanks for the heads up on the Templeton version - have to keep an eye out for that.

I had the koval version this past Saturday, very hot, very boozy. But it was pretty good nonetheless. $6.99 at small local shop.

Rye was amazing. This sat on shelves for weeks in GR. Was able to get a case and should have bought two!! I'm a huge rye whiskey fan and may be favorite BA beer of the year....yeah, beats BCBS and KBS in my book. Sorry BCBS homers...Delusion won this round.

$24.99 a 4-pack in Chicago. It is sitting on the shelf at a few places. Its pretty tasty, as long as you love rye whiskey. A bit hot, but I really enjoyed it.

I paid $26 and $27 per 4 pack at a couple different stores. I felt like it was worth it. Depends on if you like lots and lots of barrel character I suppose.

Would definitely rather have a Delusion over a KBS. Haven't had this years BCBS yet but Delusion is one of the best barrel aged brews I've had this year for sure. Just love when theres no mistaking whether or not a beer has been in a barrel. This one most definitely has, so hot.

Paid $6.50 a bottle and thought it was worth every penny!

Passed hard on this at $25.99/four pack in the Lansing area, although I'm admittedly not a huge BBA/Greenbush fan.

I had the Koval last week, and the Templeton last night. Templeton version has definite rye whiskey spiciness in the aroma and flavor.

I slightly preferred the Koval version. While both were enjoyable, I wished that the stout flavors were more present in both versions. Maybe they will improve with age but at the price point, I'm not willing to risk it.

I just had the Templeton version tonight. The rye come through big time. It was really good, but I can see a little bit of age doing wonders for this beer. Think it was $7 per bottle

Age did nothing to help last year's Delusion. It IS a cream ale after all. It's supposed to be easy to drink from the start. Dystopia handled age a little better, but they were both best fresh, IMO.

Good point and even better excuse to just drink em all sooner rather than later I suppose. Dystopia is their RIS right?

$6.50 for a 12oz bourbon barrel aged beer clocking at 10+% is a fantastic price.

Not sure which I had, but it was on tap at Bangers & Lace and it was great!

The bottle I had was HOT, it was difficult to say what kind of stout was behind the wall of alcohol heat. Good, but not great IMO.
