So i traded for a 2014 BVDL last night i didn't notice until this afternoon the fill line was low never seen this before myself. i was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them. The wax looks legit and doesn't look like anything shady. just wanted another experienced set of eyes and opinions on what to do. i attached a pic below for reference
Can't see the pic, but unless it's substantially low I wouldn't worry too much. I've gotten multiples of the same beer straight from the brewery that have had quite a bit of fill variation.
Love to see the pic just to compare it to mine. Yes, I've bought beers retail & noticed differences in the full lines.
I seem to recall a similar thread and the consensus was it was a legit bottle, FFF just has significant fill variation. Got a pic of the wax around the cap?
Thank you very much for the life of me I cannot figure out how to upload a picture I've tried through dropbox Facebook and Twitter.
The wax around the cap looks completely legit.I compared it to four different people's 14 dark Lord's and it all matches. It doesn't look like anything shady. is this something that should have been disclosed to me before I traded I gave up quite a few very nice bottles to get this one
I would say yes, if I'd bought a bottle that looked like that at a store or brewery without noticing I'd probably contact them about returning it...
It looks like an ounce, maybe a 1.5oz short. If someone was refilling a bottle, you would think they would fill it all the way to avoid the suspicion. Regarding the part about disclosure: I might have mentioned it if I was the sender but it really isn't that extreme so I wouldn't hold it against the trader. If it had been at 3/4 full or something then I would be pissed.
I'd be pissed if I were the one who just spent $50 for a fill that bad. That's awful QC. But it looks legit; at least Three Floyds-style legit.
That's pretty typical of FFF fills on the BA DL release. A lot will be the same fill level as that, others will have more. Not something I'd be too worked up about since whomever you traded with could have had multiple bottles with the same fill level and not realized it's toward the low end of the spectrum.
The only thing that may look suspicious to me is that the wax job looks too clean. It seems like most (not all) their waxed beers drip down like crazy and doesn't end neatly like this one.
