My colleague is in Thousand Oaks for a few days with family. I have slowly turned her into a craft fan and I'd like to recommend a few places for her to check out to get a taste if CA's best. She digs IPA's, barleywines, and has recently taken up sours (they grow up so fast!). Any recommendations where she and her husband can go get some good grub and sample some CA craftsmanship? Do any of the Russian River sours make it down there on tap? Any breweries close to her she should venture to? Forgive my complete ignorance, I am from the opposite side of the country and am hoping someone can steer me right so I can pass the info along to my co-worker. We get very solid distro in DC, mainly interested in CA locals and any Russian River on draft. Thanks in advance!
For Stores: There is a Total Wine in Thousand Oaks. Highly recommend Wades Wines in Agoura (10 Minutes or so on the FWY) Great store. They also have 100 beers on tap. Be sure to check out Ladyface Brewery, also in Agoura.
Ladyface in Agoura Hills not only has their own great beer lineup but gets Russian River on guest taps as well sometimes. Might be able to get some RR from their bottle list as well if nothing is on tap. Enegren in Moorpark is worth checking out as well. It's a bit out of the way near the 23/118 interchange in the back of a business park. Not too bad if you're TO based though. Super small operation, but some mighty tasty stuff. I was a fan of their Brother Joseph they put out a few weeks back.
Draughts as mentioned has some nice taps and occasional take overs. Total wine is rigt next door. Wades alias Malibu sundowner in Westland a little more pricey for bottles and a tasting room with 100 plus taps. Strange hours Thursday thru Sunday check the website and beermenus.com for tap list. Stagecoach liquids in Newbury park is a nice local spot five minutes down the roAd. Ladyface should not be missed for nice mix of house brews and guest taps and great food. Cheers!
I'll reiterate ladyface, wades and enegren. Draughts had sucaba last weekend I doubt there is any left but you never know.
