I think one of two choices should be one of the BMC beers. My guess is that many people in attendance will happily drink Bud, Bud Light, or Miller Light because they like it.

Last choice is probably between Stella and Amstel Light.

I never expect much in way of craft beers at weddings anyways. If they do, it's a bonus. I think your 3 beers are decent for what you're given with.

    Congrats!!

This is why it is best to have your reception at the church, they don't care what beer you bring there.

You have to have a Lite Beer, so Miller.

Heineken as sammy said , you just went high class, most wouldn't know Stella, but I'd opt for Harp if it was fresh.

Why not just triple the Dortmunder Gold?

Nah, too many light beer drinkers not to give them a brew that suits them. It's not a BA wedding.

Stella and Yeungling. Both pretty decent beers, especially compared up against the others on that list...

As others have said, you have to go with at least one "light" beer. My personal choice would be Amstel, but you might run the risk of people not bothering because the don't recognize the name. And then the other choice, for me, comes down to Heineken and Stella, both of which are pretty mediocre from the bottle (damn you green glass!) but pretty solid from a keg.

On the other hand, you have Dortmunder Gold, so you could just flip a coin on the other two beers.

If you are able to have one Great Lakes beer, why not a second and a third?
Your list is the exact reason my wife and I had our wedding the way we did...I didn't want anyone telling me what I could or could not have at my wedding.

Regardless, from your list I would go with Yuengling and then for the 3rd I have no preference as long as it's not an ABInbev product.

I have to disagree with most everybody; it's your wedding, serve what you want. Keep in mind not everyone is into craft beer, but that doesn't mean that you have to have a "domestic, industrial, light beer".

At my wedding we had the following on tap (was in FL, had all local beer plus a backup keg of Sweetwater 420).

CCB White Cracker (for the crowd, gone in no time)
Jai Alai (went so fast, I only got 2 little glasses)
Intuition JonBoat (for the crowd, gone in no time)
Mile Marker Coconut Porter (well received and killed before dinner was over)
Saint Somewhere Saison Athene (this was for my dad and myself, we probably got through 2 gallons of it and also gone in no time)

Doesn't matter. Put the names in a hat and pull two out. They're all basically the same.

And BTW, seems to me the "venue" is serving you and being paid by you, not the other way around. Put your foot down and tell them you want a decent beer for pick #3. I'm sure their distributor can get something you want if they ask. Who's running this wedding? You or the "venue"?

We're working on our wedding right now, and as a previous poster pointed out, why can you not have other Great Lakes beers? Normally, a venue should be able to bring in other beers from their distributor if they have a little notice. I would take a look at the contract you signed for the space. Also, consider whether there are dollar amount differences between the list they have provided. Is it an open bar otherwise? Good luck with the decision, other factors notwithstanding, I'd go with Stella and Yuengling for some variety.

Maybe the UK and the US are very different in this respect. At my wedding we served two Thornbridge beers. I'd say my brother-in-law and I were the only bona fide geeks there. But both casks were easily finished and plenty of people commented on how good the beer was.

I'd say get what you want - just don't go too high in terms of ABV, and nothing too "out there". But no reason you can't have something that tastes good.

Yuengling and Heineken, who cares what other people think, its your wedding.

    Anything but Yuengling.

I'd go Bud Light and Amstel Light. This is what I usually run into at weddings and I don't see anyone complaining. This is your first night as a new family, don't start it off on the wrong foot by picking a bunch of oddball beers that no one has heard of. Thats what the rest of your life is for.

    #2: Stella
#3: If you're concerned about pleasing the guests, I'd serve one light beer - Bud or Amstel.

We had a party the other day, had bottles of Two Hearted, Stella, Flying Dog Variety pack, Rolling Rock, Coors Light...at first glance when looking around, everyone had a two hearted. I think more people than we realize are drinking "better" beer, not going to use the word craft. The beer we were left over with was the coors light and a few rolling rocks. This was a limited sample, about 50 people and the majority were 35 and younger. So I would try to base it somewhat off the average age.

I'd say go Yuengling for all the "dark" beer drinkers, yes I know it's not a dark beer.
Then go Amstel Light or Stella.
