Dick move or not, there's an incredibly easy way to prevent people from buying up all the beer at the front of the line. It's called a bottle limit, and any brewery with its shit remotely together uses them. I really can't fault someone for buying beer and playing completely by the rules, and clearly the brewery had no issue with selling them all the beer they wanted. It was a stupid rule. Obviously this was guaranteed to happen.

The way they thought they could deter this was making people buy 2 regular Resolutes, in order to purchase one variant (sold in three packs). So you had to buy 6 regular Resolutes to get the three variants, roughly $180. But yes, obviously it didn't work.

I was about 60 back and was shut out on variants, but was able to get the regular Resolute. I'll refrain from commenting on what people did to shut a lot of people out as they know they were not considerate. I was able to try all of the variants and liked the Cacao nibs the best, although the variants were very lack luster to me. I'm actually glad I was able to save some money. Resolute will be just fine as I think it makes its own statement. I am aslo glad that 3 Brothers will be setting limits next year for those who missed out. Cheers!

Brewery only (with maybe a pallet total going out to distro). Xmas GBS is with coffee and extra honey I believe. Just guessing, but more than likely a two bottle limit on each (and I say this only because that's the limit for BA gbs). All three will be released in December I believe. We can start a separate thread for BA GBS and these shortly I suppose.

As someone who is part of 2 beer groups on facebook, who share the same theme of sharing great beer in each region with one another, I do not see a problem with anyone buying a lot of one type of beer, barring they are not hoarding it. The groups I am in have roughly 100-150 guys in it, and when each person in the group wants 2 bottles of said beer, it can get rather expensive, but that is the point of being in the group....for everyone to hook everybody up with beer, whether it is shelf beer or limited releases. I find it hard to believe someone would drop 3K on this beer (or any beer for that matter), to hoard.

It sucks people got shut out, but this is really becoming the norm of limited releases, and I don't personally have a problem with it as long as that is the motive of whoever is taking the bulk of the beers. With Facebook and other social networking groups getting more and more groups, this will start to happen at any highly sought after beer.

While I'm not disagreeing with your sentiment about taking care of people who in turn take care of you. I would just like to point out the possibility that some of the people who got shut out could have very easily been doing the same thing for other people.

So in general I find your attitude to be kind of hypocritical. And as the above poster added on....you have no problem with this behavior as long as you got yours. I don't believe you would be OK with being shut out if some other FB group mule bought all the beer while your mule was left hanging.

The general idea with lines is that if YOU want something, YOU wait in line. I understand that there is some flexibility with that, but buying whatever for dozens of people waiting at home is an asshole move to all the other people who are actually waiting in line behind you.

that is not really my sentiment at all. If I came off that way, then i apologize. My idea is to spread as much great beer I can get as I can. Last year, I scored a lot of CCB Life is Like, and backyard rye, and sent majority out to people in the group (to the point where I actually retraded for backyard...cant score anymore life is like). I scored roughly 10 bottles of Pappy van winkle...and sent all of them out to people in my group (once again, when i wanted a bottle, i had to trade an arm and a leg for a bottle for my own consumption...This year for Huna day, i planned on getting 4 cases and sending 24 people a two bottle shipper...once all hell broke loose, all "mule" offers were off the table. When a release comes out that is brewery only or outside distro, i will comment whether or not I want it. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I dont. And, for releases such as BAMC, Goose Island variants, or whatever beer is getting released, this "muling" idea doesnt really work, because very rarely does anyone get the amount to satisfy everyone. Typically, the people in these groups do a lottery system fo rhte chance to buy the said beer

So, I guess short answer, I was not one that is getting any resolute, and if one of my buddies went and got shut out, I would not be upset.

There is plenty of great beer that sits on shelves locally and that my buddies can get. As much as I would love to try a certain beer, its not the end of the world if i miss out. chances are, i'll get to at least try it at some point.

not trying to create an argument here, i am just curious about your position on why it is an asshole move. Say me and you were trade partners or in a beer group outside BA, and i offered you huna bottles and you offered me resolute, we are both waiting in lines, dealing with a lot of people, etc....I get it that there are people sitting at home and getting beer, but you could say this about a lot of things that go on in the beer community. Someoen that lives 5 minutes from Toppling Goliath could have rounded up friends to go buy Assassin/KBBS and spent little effort doing so, but when you trade for those beers, many of the beers people trade they go to extreme lengths to acquire.

I guess I am the minority here, because there is reciprocation in these beer groups. I went through some serious lengths to score a lot of Marshall Zhukov this year...and sent some bottles to a guy in Colorado. tonight i found out I scored 3 bottles of Tweak.

Wow, looking at your profile pic, you're a Marine, in dress blues, white pants, perhaps an officer? And you're talking this nonsense? Wow, you're playing the part of an assclown, and you represent the Corp, as an officer?
