These are hard times.. Esp with gas at that $4 range and driving around to go to can releases, so yeah its possible to be broke.

Well, people that line up at Monkish for IPA releases aren’t the brightest so it wouldn’t shock me in the least if they also didn’t have their priorities in check.

Beautiful images. I can imagine the final product is representative of your passion.

Unfortunately, my chug time of No Rest, No Rest with Trystero Coffee, and non-adjunct No Rest was probably 20-30 minutes or so. I am a failure to the chug game.

As far as the beers themselves, No Rest is great (but not one of my favorite HPB stouts), coffee version is really solid but the coffee masks a lot of the other flavors, and non-adjunct version is decent but a bit too bitter, the adjuncts definitely help the beer out a lot.

Also, for the record, while I wasn’t there, the last Three Chiefs release sounds like it went really smoothly and it seems like they’ve been taking in criticisms which is great to hear.

The online taplist hasn’t changed in like two months though.

Just curious, what is your favorite HPB stout?

Either Everything Good or the Neapolitan version of it.

They are pouring Everything Good at FWIBF. Its on my hit list if the line is reasonable.

We dropped in today on our DTLA pub crawl and had a 6oz pour of No Rest,it's good but absolutely nothing I'd go out of my way for, really unbalanced, bitter coffee notes and the cedar was very prominent which I did not care for.The Devils Teeth with vanilla we had earlier at the Dojo was far better IMO.

    Cheers

Man, I think I was still a little loopy when I posted after our long day of pub crawling yesterday, so...it's Monsters Park W/ Vanilla I loved at the DOJO, teeth and devils must be a by-product of one too many pours. Regarding the 3 Chiefs HPB collab, I have never had a 3Chiefs beer whether it be a collab or a 3 Chiefs solo project. I'm not invested in the hype so I drank this with an open mind and like I posted last night it was good but nothing I would remotely go out of my way for, as a beer geek it was fun to try it and honestly drink it while trying to ignore the ridiculous amount of hype these beers are generating, IMHO I just don't see that justification for the hype.

    Cheers,

Really hyped beers have a 99% failure rating in living up to expectations. Once people realize that hype is rarely (if ever) based on how a beer actually tastes rather than how difficult it’ll be for others to get, they move on to the next one.

I can think of maybe 1-2 that actually lived up.

I thought the HPB 3C collab was pretty good, but the cedar was a little much as it warmed.

It definitely throws me off that a lot of people are saying they don't really get much of the cedar. I opened one of my bottles at a friend's party yesterday it's basically cedar pancake batter to me.

I got just the right amount of cedar on mine. Definitely present in the nose as well as in the flavor, which I had been concerned about, but it actually came out quite nice. Nice change of pace, flavor-wise, for a pastry.

The THICCNESS, on the other hand...why??? Soooo thick!!!!

Fake Names, their TIPA, is one of, if not THE worst IPA’s I’ve ever had. It’s so sweet and malty with hardly any hops. Also not very hazy. Fail all around.
