You guys should go post in other threads and come back and give us some useful thoughts once you've actually tried Faha

Better yet, they should go wait in line for the next 100 bottle release from this hypebeast home brewer!

I've had faha and it lives up to the hype. In comparison to iwaad b2 (I haven't had b1) coconut profile is just as good if not better, and it has the body to boot. Don't have pictures uploaded but check my IG, squigy_D. I feel like I may be one of the only people to have tried from the bottle so far...

Let's all reconvene in three months once the next batch of 100 beers is released.

It had coconut floaties in it, so it better taste like coconut. My urine would taste like coconut if it had coconut floaties in it.

Would be nice to see anyone do a proper review of it on this site. So far nothing.

It's funny, I remember seeing excitement not criticism when people saw floaties in their pours of Space Trace

FWIW: I took points off for the "Look" due to the floaties in Space Trace. 3.5 for Look

Yep. All of the 'fireeee', 'lives up to the hype' and 'best coconut stout ever' reviews on the other site are useless.

Personally, I think people take reviews a bit more seriously on this site. So while I wouldn't call the other sites useless. I do think it is telling that no one has reviewed it here yet.

Its just my oppnion, but I don't consider statements like: 'fireeee', 'lives up to the hype' and 'best coconut stout ever' to be reviews. They sound a bit more like advertisements to me

Hopefully, someone will get around to doing a proper review here.

In general every platforms has a use. I think untappd is great for getting a feel for what the average person thinks of a beer that lots of people have access to. So, pretty much pure rating. I think it's also great for getting an idea of where one beer from a brewery stands next to another. Even if these values are somewhat inflated, with several thousand reviews it still gives a good idea of beer A > beer B.

BA on the other hand is the best (IMO) for actual reviews. I'd never trust untappd for knowing whether I would like a beer, and never for a beer with very few ratings (unless I already had extensive knowledge/experience with other beers from that brewery).

All this is to say that lots of people on untappd simply rate a beer by how well they like it. So, saying something is the best coconut stout ever (to me) only says it has the most coconut flavor. Not surprising given the floatiez. Does that make it taste good? To some for sure. Is it a flavor bomb? Sounds like it could be. Does that make it a great beer within the category of a BA stout? Probably not if the only thing you comment on is coconut. If the words Bourbon or Barrel never enters your mind when describing the beer, there's no way it could ever be given higher than a 4.5 at most within category. It's a BA beer first and foremost. Within that category it's a BA stout with coconut.

TL;DR untappd is good for widely available beers. Stupid to use for "reviews," knowing what the beer is actually about, or discerning what the rating of a beer actually should be.

As a general guide from a rating standpoint there is some value to Untappd. The reviews for Faha and most beers, however, are void of any actual objective value.

I think you're probably better off going to a share with one. That's what I would do personally. I'd try and set it up next to antique coco, since it is the 2nd iteration of the beer. Maybe throw in iwaad too. Haven't had b1, but I like faha over b2. That way everybody wins tasting amazing beers!

Maybe if it was still 2012.

Not the second iteration really - Antique used Weller 107 barrels and was aged in barrels for a long time. "Similar" is probably the adjective I'd use.

Why couldn't a brewer knock it out of the park on their first offering?
