^ I never said it didn't but I've been following this thread since before the release and I can't recall anyone on BA actually making that claim. I could've missed it over the 10 pages, but I don't think anyone has really made that claim here.

So someone on untapped hype rated a beer (not the first time by any means) yet the people who have had the beer and are involved in this thread have not made the claim yet y'all still gonna argue like we have?

And beer is relative - maybe it was the best beer someone has had up to this point in their life. Maybe the beer you think is the best is meh to me because I have 5x Zenne b1s sitting in my wine fridge.

I can tell you that there aren't as many hits as I would like...trading for a b1 has become increasingly more difficult. And sadly, neither b1 nor b2 was available for onsite at OpenBeerDays this year.

Jealous you went to OBD... I guess I lucked out, was there in summer 2017 and got had b1 a couple days in a row, though it was before Solera was released at OBD that year.

Yah, Zenne is an absolute gem. Tough to land but is always worth it.

 

From what I understand (and the employees told us), OBD in 2017 was a nightmare. I was getting more and more concerned of a huge shit show but come friday morning there were maybe 40 of us. Never people needing to stand while they drank, always a seat at a table.

The real shitshow was watching us all (myself included) leave 3F, hop on the train, and then walk at a rather brisk pace to Cantillon since they put St. Lam / Vig / d'Aunis on the board to go. Good times.

Purchased an '08 OGV 75cl all 5 days I went to 3F. Was a wonderful experience.

 

08 is soooooo good.

 

Playing into the limited release,

It’s only the most sought after beer for the same pastry hype boys that this brewery is catering to. This breweries sales plan is what is wrong with beer these days. They artificially created a scarce beer so that people start hyping it up. I’m convinced people taste the hype in it and that’s why it’s so “sought after.”

 

So? Don't give a shit about it, don't chase it. Don't like it, don't support them. Not sure why this is such a difficult concept. Go to your local, pick up a sixer of something new and be happy... it's not like there is a shortage of options of readily available beer of X quality.

You can get A&G readily off the shelf. What a time to be alive.

 

I know I said I was done, but screw it. I think the thing I find most annoying about threads like this is the assertion anyone that stood in line for a beer is some hype driven ass who can't be trusted. As soon as someone gets their hand on a rare beer, everything they say is intended to manipulate trade and secondary values. Like someone can't just put in the work to get a beer to pop it open with their friends.

You see the same stuff in Monkish threads. Anyone that is willing to wait in line must be doing it so they can flip the cans and pay their rent.

Just because someone is willing to do more to acquire a beer than you think is reasonable, it doesn't mean they have ulterior motives.

...drink Green Cheek and Brouwerij West instead of Monkish.

...drink Abnormal and Beachwood instead of 3 Chiefs and JWB.

Will it be as good? You'll never know unless someone cracks it at a share but you can drink pretty good beer and be happy you didn't "waste your time" or "buy into the hype" instead of shitting on other people for their choices.
