I just moved to the Westlake area and I have never had any FFF beer before. I know it gets distributed locally but it seems like a total crapshoot. Anyone know where to land some? Have any tips? When does it usually come around and how do you actually find out its there?

Of course I would love ZD but honestly I'm just looking for whatever I can get my hands on.

We usually only get bombers. I have yet to see a 6 pack since they re-entered the market. Shipments are also very sporatic and seem to sell quickly. Draft is also sporatic but you will see their regular beers on draft (Alpha King, Gumballhead, etc.). In other words, who knows when you will see it but if you do, and want some, buy it when you see it because it probably won't last long.

Thanks for the heads up. Even ZD only comes in bombers around here? Also, since (I'm assuming) one distribution company handles all the shipments to Ohio....is it safe to say that when it does hit the area it hits all stores at once or does it come in waves?

I understand your desire to try Three Floyds beer. I would HIGHLY recommend a road trip to their brewery - it's easily the best way to try all their beers and go home with 2 cases to enjoy and share with friends. It's only 4 hours away from the West Side of Cleveland.

As for getting it here, talk to your local stores (it would be a great way to get to know the owners/employees and see what store(s) you want to give your business to). Each store is different - some put it out, 1st come 1st served. Some hold it for special customers. Some don't get it at all. Contrary to what was reported above, Ohio DOES get 6 pack offerings now but they're just as rare as 22oz bottles. Shipments are random over the year, but it tends to go out at once over the course of a week depending on a store's delivery day from Cavalier. In other words, each store that gets it will see it the same week, then that's it until the next shipment.

I had already looked into making a trip out there, would suck to drive 4.5 hours each way and have no ZD in the store though! Either way, looking to hit it up one weekend soon. Thanks for the info on the distribution. Does Cavalier post updates on FBook or Twitter regarding distribution weeks usually? I'll have to look them up. I typically find a good beer store and stick with it so I'll ask around and see who carries it and then make my purchases from them regularly to get on their good side.

Bottle shops tend to hold some back. As stated above, get in good with a shop. I picked up a six of ZD last night

They post on their website what's on tap. ZD & Alpha King are year round beers so those should always be on tap more often then not. Permanent Funeral would be a different story (twice a year a buddy told me?). Anyway, if you really are trying to find some you can always trade. OH has exclusive IPA's that IN/CHI folk are always looking for.

I'm in the minority who thinks Alpha King is better than ZD which is a bit easier to find in OH...personally, i enjoy several OH IPA's over ZD any day of the week. Yes, you can get 6 packs of Alpha King in OH as others have noted. I bought one last week (1/7/14 bottle date). In my experience, don't expect to find many of their stouts in OH other than Moloko....others may have differing opinions on that (i'd be interested to know actually).

Also, use beerfinder or whatever apps you crazy kids are using these days to track beer. FFF is regularly on draft in NE OH. Hoppin Frog had Permanent Funeral on tap a few weeks ago. Fathead's has FFF stuff on tap pretty regularly. I think Wink's downtown has Gumballhead on tap now...anyway Gumballhead...Alpha King, Robert the Bruce & Zombie are always available somewhere if you snoop around enough. You might be best off chasing drafts for a while. Best of luck on your FFF quest...we've all been there at some point! ha.

Confirmed: Wink's Downtown has Alpha King on tap. $4.25. Get it done, brah.

Short answer: Subscribe to Simone's Beverage's and Rozi's Wine House Instagram and FB pages. They are very good at keeping the public abreast of FFF arrivals when it comes to bottled stuff. Draft stuff is a little more spread out and you just gotta be in the loop for those spots too, generally by social media.

I am still waiting to find some dam zombie dust. I only got serious into beer now for 3 months and been lucky enough to get alpha klaus, permanent funeral. The gumball one, Robert the Bruce, and one more I feel I am forgetting but no zombie dust. I do love the hopslam so if zombie dust is better than hopslam I will be very happy when I do find it.

If it's within the first 2 weeks of being in the bottle, it crushes the overly sweet hopslam

Thanks for all the information guys! I landed a six pack of Alpha King today from Heinens, a six pack of Robert the Bruce from Ross's Deli in Lakewood, and a 22 oz bottle of Razor Hoof from Minottis in Westlake today alone. So pumped to try them all. Still can't find ZD or Dreadnaught anywhere :slight_frown:

I also found a store in IL (http://www.wlvliquors.com) that ships FFF beers to Ohio residences so I ordered a few Gumballheads, Jinxproof, and Pride and Joy.

Might hit up Lizardville for the Behemoth. Anyone had this? Is it really worth $18 for a 22 oz?
