    [QUOTE="JackHorzempa,
    Do you think the issue is that the bottling line at the brewery is not of very high quality (i.e., high TPO values)?
    [/QUOTE]

    I wondered that myself, perhaps?

    Thing is, I have also had months old ZD (lost in the back of the fridge) that doesn't taste that much worse than say, a month or two on it. Sure, it gets more malty and sweet, but it's not that drastic surprisingly. I would think if it was oxidation from a poor bottling line the difference would be more significant as time goes on. I don't know. Just a finicky beer in my experience!

    Now I want some... I will have to pick some up tonight or tomorrow if I head to the bottle shop lol

    Continuous cold storage significantly slows down chemical reactions (staling reactions). This is quantified via the Arrhenius Equation:

    Monk's has a couple on tap, I'm sure there are others in Philly.
    I would check Quotations in Media, Delaware County, they had four on tap last week.

    Hopefully this isn't another case of a large/regional brewery expanding like it's 2015 all over again. This original post is a year old and that feels like a lifetime ago in the beer world.

    Totally agree on ZD its window is very short same on Dreadnaught ,on the other hand Alpha King is consistent and holds up much better at 60- 90 days.

    Yet another brewery looking to grow their footprint. If you can’t sell your flagships in your hometown, how do you think you’re going to have success in other states?

    Three Floyds is expiring at grocery stores while it’s on sale.

    I had Zombie Dust about a year or 2 ago and thought it was one of the best Pale Ales I've ever tried. I would buy it if I saw it without it being on sale. Crazy to think that is a shelfie.

    THIS big time. Zombie Dust went from stores (a year ago) getting a case and selling fresh singles out in a day to cases stacking up everywhere in town. The market for $15 six packs of 6% pale ale is not that strong. Also, if it's cold, you can't read the laser etched date above the label. Fortunately, every store in town keeps theirs warm:rolling_eyes:. It's not a world class beer after a month at room temperature.

    That said, I hope wherever they expand, they send fresh beer and sell plenty. It's my only hope to see fresh Zombie Dust here again. Unless they switch to 16oz cans and make it hazy:wink:!

    It’s a smart way to move product, the key is fresh. If you see it you know it’s fresh and fresh ZD is terrific, shelf turd ZD not so much. The key here is to keep it fresh and rotate it into different markets assuring demand stays high and avoiding the dreaded shelf turd status. Their marketing dept hits a hr this way, hopefully it works for everyone.
