A coworker sent this link along to me and it is definitely interesting. Essentially Nick Floyd has said a few things about this and the full details havent come out yet...if they have, I havent seen any. Gonna be a "satellite" brew pub for them possibly? Restaurant project? Anyone know anything? http://chicago.eater.com/2016/9/20/...-chicago-brewpub-restaurant-bar-humboldt-park
My guess is that it'll be a bar/restaurant that serves mostly 3 Floyds and possibly dishes created by the chefs at 3 Floyds. So not a true brew pub but I'd like to be wrong about that.
Yeah, my knee-jerk reaction was "cool!" but honestly, I can't get excited about this. 1) It's in Humboldt which means that not only is it not super convenient to me, but it's right near Wicker Park. Anything "hip" near there is impossible to get within a city block of. 2) FFF makes some very good beers, but I can't see this as the sort of place I'd be willing to make the effort for (despite knowing nothing about it ). If I'm going out of my way for FFF, I'll just go to their home base.
Now, if the articles states he can't legally open a 3 Floyds, why is the title of the thread 3 Floyds' New Chicago Spot? Maybe it's a Warpigs or Mikkeller and friends?
Can I be the first one to say Zombie Dust doesn't taste the same as the one served in Indiana or do I have to wait until the place opens first to say it?
Probably cause even though it's not officially a 3 Floyds spot (wink, wink), it sure seems like that's the plan. If we're going to call the thread title police on this one, I think there already is a long queue to be dealt with.
Sounds good to me. Worst case, it absorbs some of the traffic that would normally be at the original.
Before I bought my current place, I put and offer on a condo directly across the street from the location after Floyd originally purchased the property (coincidental timing). I was getting excited to be able to walk across the street to drink at my leisure. But didn't go through and then he sold it. Such is life. But its still easy enough for me to get to, so I'm looking forward to whatever it happens to be.
