Didn't see a thread that was comparable to other area breweries so here goes:

Went today to grab a pair of Crack the Skye bombers ($15 each/limit 4). Line was about 30 minutes out the door. Happy to grab these after the strong reviews in the fall for it on draft. Also, Space Station Middle Finger is now in $10 6'ers which makes more sense for an APA than a $8 bomber

Not a coffee stout guy myself, but the bottle art is fantastic, and it's raising awareness for a really important cause, so good on FFF/Mastodon/Dark Matter and everyone who grabs a bottle.

I was there too!!! I think I waited a little longer but it wasn't bad. It was a good buffer before going to the 18th street anniversary.

I hope I can see it on distro. I would have grabbed some Permanent Funeral as well had I been there!

Yeah. Last night after the 18th street anniversary wasn't too fun getting home. Props to idot thought, once we got back into Illinois it was a lot better.

So it the beer actually barrel aged or just the coffee that was used in Crack the Skye?

Just the coffee was barrel aged. FFF called it a "Cofee Barrel Aged Stout" which caused long lines the day of release. But now that everyone realized that:

    1. There is a good amount of it
    2. It's not actually barrel aged
    3. This was actually on tap months ago, and while very good, there was no hype for it as a "rare" release.

The hype has died down. This is also going to hit distro, so you may be able to find it in a few weeks on the shelf (although I expect it will sell fairly fast as many FFF beers do).

That's deceptive. Up next, FFF Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. A normal stout that is fermented next to an old bourbon barrel that is accruing age....

Stout with Barrel Aged Coffee would have been more appropriate descriptor.

And did they put any of this in barrels for a later date? Coffee Barrel Aged Barrel Aged Stout.

Well they do have another beer named Fenris, which will be on tap at Lone Wolf that uses barrel aged coffee beans, but was also aged in the bourbon barrels that the coffee beans were aged in. So yeah, Coffee Barrel Aged Barrel Aged Stout.

Get it at Lone Wolf (they will also have the bourbon and the coffee available)

Fenris is a Baltic Porter though...so Coffee Barrel Aged Barrel Aged Porter

That's really cool about Space Station Middle Finger. I love that beer, but don't always want to commit to a bomber.
