That description should probably be on the beer label as it offers more info than anything else they put out about the beer...that being said, that opens a whole host of other questions- What base stout and what barrel aged beer got blended? What percent of the mix in was barrel aged?

Just finished my first glass of Crack the Skye. The coffee presence is very similar to Cafe Deth actually. Whereas Cafe Deth isn't totally cohesive, this one is. I don't really get a barrel presence but it's a damn good stout.

Looks like Capones has Crack the Skye so it should be hitting elsewhere soon.

Do any places in the northern suburbs of Chicago do singles of Zombie Dust? Don't want to purchase a full sixer because I only need a couple for a gift I'm putting together.

I think World Wide Liquors in Deerfield does when they have it in stock.

Assuming you can find zombie dust. It's not as hard as it once was but still doesn't stay on shelves long.

Liquor Barn in wheeling does. It's behind the counter and they will sell you 2 max usually. It's like $3 a piece so I agree with others it's better to just buy a 6pk somewhere else if you can find it (BG Binnys had several cases on the floor earlier today). For what it's worth I hate liquor Barn so I hate to recommend going there but if it helps...

Dark matter coffee on western blvd and star lounge on chicago ave both have crack the skye hoodies, and the mothership on western has t shirts. Might have to grab one, they look as good as the beer label.

Also they are selling the coffee that the beer was made with.

Did we ever clear up whether the hoodies were aged in coffee barrels or bourbon barrels though?

I am at DMC right now and the manager is telling me they were only aged in coffee barrels, but it was a bourbon cultivar; unsure if this qualifies as a bourbon barrel age.

Tried my Crack the Sky. It's like Wigsplitter, but creamier, has some vanilla tones from either the barrel or "bourbon." Very good beer, worth trying, just don't expect to get major bourbon or oak flavors....Haven't had Cafe Deth, but have a hard time believing it is better than this beer.

Anyone tried the Brandy Alpha Kong yet? I'm curious to know how it is, but not curious enough to drop the $40 for it.

Also, they have Gin BA Permanent Funeral on draft right now...Anyone try that yet?

I had it on draft last week. You know, it actually worked well, but it makes PF vastly different! The barrel note is really present, especially upfront, and I think it works well also on the back end because of that sweet malt backbone familiar with PF, but some of those orange peel-citrus notes are still coming through (more subtly).

I'm not sure I can say I prefer regular or BA PF, because they taste totally different...but I did enjoy the BA also.
