    Good Afternoon Y'all!

Next week I will be making the trip from Flint to Chicago to see the Cubs take on the Cardinals. On my way down on Friday, I was hoping to swing through 3 Floyds to pick up some things for myself.

Is there any protips I should know about? I have read that they dont refill growlers, but I have not seen anything on their new website discussing growler fills? Are growler fills the standard beers, or could I get something like Space Station Middle Finger?

Any other advice/places to stop in Chicago would be fantastic!

    Thanks a bunch!

They don't fill growlers unfortunately. The only items you can take home are listed in the Beers To Go section on their website and they update it daily.

And expect to stand in line to get into the pub or to get into the to-go store unless you are extremely lucky in the timing of your visit.

I think Fridays are kind of unpredictable. I assume you're stopping around lunchtime if you are on your way to a Cubs game, so if you can arrive shortly before they open then you may get right in. But if you're not in the first seating, then it all depends on how long it takes to turn over a table.

I think that may depend on whether they have Zombie Dust and/or Gumballhead available, and Thursday-Sunday are high probability days for that to happen. I don't go there often enough to say for sure, but I suspect more people show up on those days, thus a longer line at the to-go store. The last time I was there was a Thursday, and I was 6th in line outside the door. It was a frigid day, and I think maybe a dozen people were crammed inside the small sales area in an attempt to get warm. So, maybe I was 15th in line and it took about 30 minutes or so. ZD and GBH were available that day, along with a special release of something else that helped to slow down the transactions.

All in all, the line moves along pretty good considering the cool beer selection. The guys behind the counter really work hard to throw everything together quickly. I have been there probably 4 times, and each time, getting into the brew pub to eat was quick and easy. Have a great time!

If you get there right when they open on a Friday you'll be fine. Don't worry about waiting in line, not gonna happen. Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays are the days/times you want to avoid.

15-20% based on quality of service is customary.

One thing I didn't see on their site was limits. Are there limits to what you can buy?

Someone will correct me, but I believe it's 2 cases of 12oz beers no matter if you mix and match 6 packs or buy full cases. I also think its one case of bombers, but I'm less sure on that one.

That is correct about the limits, except for certain bombers, like Permanent Funeral (limit 4) or whatever else they may have on that day. Limits are usually posted on the chalkboard, but you can always ask the cashier, who may or may not be surly.

I've never had to wait for a seat at the pub during daytime hours, except for the clusterfuck if a day around Christmas when the released a shit ton of barrel aged beers.

Waiting for the to go line can be hit or miss depending on if zombie dust is available. Even if the line is nuts, you it's less than an hour. Grab a good podcast on your phone.

I had a Three Floyds related question here too. I will be visiting the brewpub this weekend, and wanted to pick up some Zombie Dust and Gumballhead, both of which were JUST added to their beer to go list this morning. If I get there first thing Friday morning when they open, what are they chances they have cases of either of these beers left?

They were actually added yesterday afternoon. It's possible they will still have Gumballhead, but there's a good chance Zombie Dust will be gone by then. You may luck out, though with the weather turning nice, I would expect a fair number of people heading over there.

I picked up some ZD yesterday. I was told they had 10 pallets of it. With a 2 case limit I would hope you would get some by friday morning, friday after work prob not. I am guessing GBH shouldnt be a problem. If it is just go down Ridge Road to the Strack and Van Til they always have GBH and Alpha King.
