New beer, available on draft and 22oz bombers. It's a stout and $8 for a bomber...

Nothing about an $8 bomber is cheap.

Btw, I saw Brian Boru bombers at Whole Foods yesterday for $6.99. The fact that it's cheaper there than the brewery is quite absurd.

Breweries don't want to piss off retailers by undercutting their prices. As a result you will typically pay a couple $ premium when purchasing beer from the source.

    Cheers!

They sell some mediocre beer for $35 a pop and people praise their innovation and talk about the expensive ingredients that went into it etc....

They charge more at the brewery, and suddenly they're the friendliest brewery towards retailers.

We will pretend like Zombie Dust isn't exponentially cheaper at the brewery than most places, just like we'll keep telling ourselves that every Stout and Barleywine is supposed to be super hoppy, because Three Floyd's said so....

The best part is.... unlike the $30/$35 per bottle stuff, this will probably sit around, because a standard stout for only $8/bottle will never carry the trade weight as the other stuff.

I can almost sense the demand for gasoline in Chicago dropping as I type.

I was speaking in comparison to most of the bombers sold at the brewery. I agree $8 isnt necessarily "cheap" but I feel like most of their bombers start at $10.

This typically is not true. FFF usually has the lowest price on their bottles then at most stores. Whole Foods and Binnys typically match the price but most stores are $1 or more higher than the FFF price. Could be an error in WF's system, but who knows.

Their DIPA's are $10. There are a lot of bombers that are $8 and some that have been cheaper than $8.

For expample stuff like Lord Rear Admiral (formerly Lord Admiral Nelson), Brian Boru, etc. runs $8. Calumet Queen was $5.

I tried it last night. It's a pretty standard stout. Nothing spectacular about it, but it is very drinkable.

Remember that bottles at the brewery include tax. Buying a $7 bomber at a liquor store in Chicago is just as expensive (or more than) an $8 bomber at FFF.

    $6.99 + 10% sales tax in or around Chicago = $7.69

So, no. FFF is still higher.
