I hope this gets ZD to WI, even in limited quantities.

If I were to guess, I'd say they don't want to deal with expanding distribution, especially when they aren't meeting demand in the current footprint. Why deal with the hassle of expanding when they can increase production and still sell really well here?

Zombie Dust will make its way into more stores.... Then be promptly ignored when a new, harder to get, trendier beer comes out somewhere else.

I'm assuming no, because then they wouldn't be able to ship outdated stuff out of the area.

This. I can't help but think there's some weird Michigan law or tax or something like that that's preventing them them from coming into the state since we're so close and everyone I know who loves Founders, Bell's, etc., would go apeshit over finally being able to get Three Floyds.

Normal Three Floyds offerings aren't rare. All of their year round offerings have over 1,000 reviews on this site. I think we can take rarity out of the equation.

FFF needs to start supplying the major city in their home state with beer (which is not Chicago dammit) before they enter some other state.

given Indy is over 150 miles away from the brewery and Chicago is less than 30, I can see why they supply Chicago more than they would Indy. Not to mentioned there is about 3x more people in the Chicago market than the Indy market.

Not sure why so many people b$itch about FFF not expanding, but not RR, HF, CCB, etc. While they don't distribute to states other than Illinois and Indiana, from the looks of it on here, it's not hard to find a local trader to hook up with.

Don't get all geographical on me now, but in all seriousness those are all good points.

I should clarify that my point is more about supplying Indiana/Indy before expanding. Although I do maintain that it's frustrating when we have a hard time getting some of their beers and they are technically an Indiana brewery. Not to mention they seem to never show up to festivals around here. Oh well.

I understand where your coming from. It seems to a bit about the image of the brewery for them. I used to live in Indiana, but now live in the west suburbs of Chicago. We get way more than we did in Valparaiso, Indiana and the surrounding areas (which is about 20 miles or so from the brewery).

And there's nothing that the guy at CraftWorks in Shibuya, Japan would want to bring in. :sunglasses:

I'm no fan of FFF so take this for what it's worth. I'd argue they strategically located in Munster to serve the Chicago metro area without having to deal with a lot of the hassles and expense of being located in Illinois. You concede they're "technically" an Indiana brewery and that's about as far as I would take it. A brewery is not obligated to "supply" anyone first; it's obligated (as a for-profit business) to sell as much of its beer to as many people as it can. Like it or not, it appears FFF is doing that.

They're Chicago guys who bought cheap land just across the state line.

Indiana is not their home state. Get over it.

There will be no new markets opened, and based off of conversations that I have heard with the owners, there isn't any pressing desire to open any new states sometimes soon. They cannot satiate their home market whether it be Chicago or Indiana as it is.

With all the new update does this mean I can buy more than one case of zombie dust for my three and a half hour drive each way?

    It's been a 2 case limit for a while.

You can thank the assholes who used to stroll up and buy 40+ cases at a time.
