Since we're talking about Anchor Steam, check out all of these mediocre beers at the very beginning of this video:

Ouch on the Two Hearted. I'm a West Coast IPA sycophant, and I love that beer when fresh.

In my world I view mediocre beer as something easy to obtain, reasonable price and something I can drink everyday.

    Torpedo
    Grapefruit Sculpin
    Dale's Pale

I'm struggling with the word "mediocre"

SNPA and Anchor Steam are both regulars in my fridge. They may not be the latest day one release fresh hop beer.....but they're steady and tasty, in a very familiar, comforting way.

I feel that the descriptor "mediocre" implies that the beer itself is very average. The two you listed are outstanding beers, IMO.

I humbly and respectfully disagree with your definition of mediocre. I feel like the OP most likely meant that "mediocre" beers are of average quality. Based on your definition of mediocre, Torpedo and Dale's Pale fit that description, but those are two of the best beers on the planet, IMO. If you were to say that they are mediocre in a conversation with someone, their knee-jerk reaction would be to say that you are crazy!

I classify mediocre as a beer that I wouldn't normally buy a sixpack of to keep around the house for myself, but have no problem drinking it when I find it at a bar or restaurant. Most beers that I see people posting as mediocre I would probably keep in my fridge

I don't have any "go-to" mediocre beers. I pay for what I want, and I don't buy mediocre stuff. However, if I have to, I'll settle for a mediocre beer at a bar or restaurant. If there are no better options, there is usually Sam Adams Boston Lager, Blue Moon, or Guinness.

If I consider a beer to be mediocre then it's not a 'go to'.

Basically any American Pale Ale that was created before 2010 that isn't using any of the current exotic hops or dry hopping techinques etc).

I'm just going to reply instead instead of questioning, dissecting, and 'snobbing' the OP who just just asked a simple question....
    Redhook ESB
    Dales Pale Ale
    Sweetwater IPA....damn that was easy.

Like to live in the OP's world where Jever is considered mediocre.

    Mine would be:
    Yuengling Lager
    Fat Tire
    Coor's Light

I was enjoying this thread when 90% of the people were just complaining about the OPs question. Now that people are actually answering, the thread is pretty mediocre.

@Tdizzle, for me "Mediocre" was more along the lines of what @readyski is saying here. Two Hearted is a classic, tasty IPA that is just about everywhere and easily obtained
