https://www.newschoolbeer.com/2019/...-brewing-blending-now-open-in-montavilla.html Weird sizing/pricing. 4oz, 10oz & 14oz.
I like the pricing size thing. Probably reduces the number of types of glasses they need, thus allowing them to buy more of each, and maybe getting a price break.
I hope this doesn't catch on. Might be my "toxic masculinity" talking but i prefer a good old Imperial pint...
Well you know... Some us are a bit more toxic than others. Even so , I quite agree... Even if it's not something I tend to appreciate first hand any more, I still find comfort in a place that knows how to pour a "proper pint."
Your toxic masculinity is implying that the size of the beer you drink has anything.. You know what, nevermind. lol
Indeed. My only real gripe is that it suddenly becomes the "Oh everyone else charges $6 for a full pint? Then we will just go ahead and charge that for our ten to fourteen ounce pour." Cause' ya know, they want to make things easier for the customer
What has concerned me from the start, is that the sort of pricing we currently see over at GN might catch on elsewhere. That was the first thought that crossed my mind when I read the post from @SeaAle. However, it doesn't appear that's what is going on over at Threshold. In fact, I was kind of pleased with the "small" pour pricing. I often times don't want a full pint of something, and will ask for a "glass" pour instead of a pint. That typically results in a 10 ounce pour that is usually priced a dollar less than the price pint. A $2 dollar break on the glass pour size is refreshing to see.
I don't know how you can say it's not similar to Great Notion. GN pours a single IPA in a 13.5oz glass, but you can ask for it in 10.5oz glass or a 5oz taster if you want. As for the large pours an IPA at GN is $5 for a 13.5oz and $5.50 for a 14oz at Threshold. So very similar pricing.
I'm looking at the Great Notion online menu right now. They charge $5 for all of their 10.5 ounce pours. That's what I was referring to (the price differential for that size glass). However, you're right about the 13.5 ounce beers (which are also priced at $5). That's pretty much identical to what Threshold is charging. It is interesting though, how in no time at all I've become quite accustomed to paying $6 a pint around town these days.
Well, between Bailey's and Horse Brass, there are healthy number of $6/imperial pint pours around town. But that said, I can't remember when i last had one of those. In any case, sounds like i need to plan a Mt Tabor-ish beer crawl. Between this place and Montavilla BW,there should be plenty of good options.
Stopped by today... Shit ton of young kids. Clearly filling a void needed in montavilla. Fuzz face was great! Honestly... great, if not better than great notion beers I've had recently.
Ditto on Fuzz Face. I liked the other IPA as well, but not quite as much. Perhaps it's the ekuanot hops. If they can brew other styles as competently I'll be pleased indeed.
