There is some definite "pungent" hop character in it...not sure what hops they use, but some may detect more foul aromas/flavours than others...

So, a simple questions I would appreciate help with. Even with the update of their website on Friday, Discount does not show that they have received IIPA. Anyone know if what they have on shelves is fresh or not? FWIW I have bought two 4-packs and both are pretty good, but I never had last year's version so I have nothing to reference.

There's gotta be dozens of other stores that are listed, so why take the chance on freshness?

Huh, not sure if my palate was off, or just an off bottle (which I highly doubt coming from New Glarus who is easily the most consistent brewery in the state, if not country) but the rest of the 4-pack tasted just awesome. Very tropical fruity and some definite dank...but no onion. Musta been that corned beef I paired with it, lol.

Drinking the third one out of my 4pk now to celebrate being done with Monday. No onions whatsoever, and really just a small bit of tropical fruit. I'll call this a great combination of malt earthiness and the piney hop bitterness burning my palate into a crisp. I think its about time to put up a review!

Discount in Waukesha had some 4-packs out a couple days after its release. A week later they only had singles on the shelf hidden at the back of it. Not sure if they are holding back on restocking or if they were out. The bottle shop I buy most of my beer from hasn't put out their IIPA - they are trying to get rid of more Winter Warmer first to which I said good luck.

I'm drinking one right now, and it reminds me why Thumbprint IIPA is one of my favorite beers of all time. So. Freaking. Good!!

Finally tried a bottle, which lead to my second and third of the 4-pk. Must say this holds up to all expectations based on the postings here. Job well done, New Glarus!

But the scores speak from themselves.

From my stool with my tulip glass in hand the New Glarus IIPA is much better than the Resin and the CW which I have had and have not bought again. The IIPA is one that I have gone out of my way for, the other 2 , no.

I think it seems better this year than last. Not sure if they tweaked the hops or I tweaked my palate but it seems much better this year to me. Not that it was bad last year, but this year I would put it up with the better IIPA's
