I opened a 750 this past weekend with friends. Granted this was after plenty of other beers, football and cooking out. I thought it was very good. Perhaps just a touch less tart than the 2010/2011 but that is to be expected. Any other feedback and I'd be talking out of my azz.

I loved it. It seemed to be drinking with more complexity than 10/11.

If no one else hops in here to help, I'll gladly open a new bottle with Mongo next week and report back about how terrible it is and how no one should ever buy any of their bottles. I'll even let everyone know how quickly it goes down the drain. Blah, Tilquin, disgusting.

Possibly because beers get sourer with time? Or maybe it's because no second batch of beer is as good as the first?

So are we talking 1st batch Tilquin now vs. new batch? I would think the new batch is better since the first batch was just a blend of 1 and 2 year. New batch should have 3 year now, right?

Tilquin dood worked at loon. What now bro?

I loved it. I tried the '10/'11 batch fresh so my thoughts are meaningless since that was over a year ago, but '11/'12 was a bit more complex I think.

I should have been more clear. I had a 2010/2011 recently and versus the fresh 2011/2012 the year older vintage was a little more tart to me. But I would say that is to be expects because it's a lambic with an extra year on it.

Also, for those saying they only drink loons (jokingly); did you know tilquin is a blend with 1 year old Cantillon in it? Maybe I shouldn't let that cat out of the bag.

I thought it was great. I picked some up on the way to DC a few months ago, skipped the conference lunch, and had a couple splits in my hotel room between conference sessions...which also probably made it taste even better!!!!

Tilquin easily is the worst beer on the market and I recommend no one buy even one bottle, even just to satisfy some morbid curiosity, it really is that bad.

Just an fyi...10/11 is not the first batch. Its the first batch exported to the US. The first bottled batch is 2009 stamped.

That's just a risk you have to take with these lambics...with all that wild bacteria floating around the coolships, who knows what's going to get in there. Hell, people should just stop drinking lambic - it's just dangerous!
