Made the mistake of posting this outside of regional brews, so I'll fire it back up to get everyone's input, eh?

    OP:
Had family movie to Michigan, Ann Arbor specifically, looking to see what good brews they can bring back (Thanksgiving/Christmas), whether local to Michigan, or just distributed there, I'm only really familiar with Bell's.

"Great Lakes Brewing from Cleveland distributes to Michigan, they are another pretty reliable name. Bell's and Founders first, though."

"Bell's, Founders, Short's, maybe even Arcadia... bunch of good packaged beers out that way from local breweries!"

"And Founders. Whatever style you like...both Bells and Founders are good bets and I'd recommend"

Also had recommendations for Dark Horse, and Jolly Pumpkin..

    So far that makes:
    1. Arcadia
    2. Bell's
    3. Dark Horse
    4. Founders
    5. Great Lakes
    6. Jolly Pumpkin
    7. Short's

What brews specifically from Bell's, Founders, and Short's?

What styles do you like? That would help narrow down what to go after. Also, I'm almost positive that Jolly Pumpkin distributes to CA.

    Pesonally, I like these:

    Bells

Expedition, Third Coast Ale, Two Hearted,

    Dark Horse
Crooked Tree, Double Crooked Tree, Plead the 5th (BA or regular)

    Founders
FIS, Old Curmudgeon, Backwoods Bastard, Breakfast Stout, Porter

    Jolly Pumpkin
La Roja, Bam Biere (they are all pretty good though)

    Shorts
Anything as they make a thousand different beers and the lousy ones are few and far between.

Go to Kuhnhenn to get you some DRIPA! Check out Griffin Claw and Right Brain as well

    Cheers!

Good point, so I'm good with just about anything, especially as my wife likes "yellow fizzy" low IBU brews, and I dig everything from DIPAs to Porters/Stouts and sours. Really wouldn't turn anything down, and will learn from experience.

    As for beer priority:
    1. Nothing I can get in (Southern) California - admittedly I need to do my homework
    2. Local/Limited/Seasonal brew - I'll have plenty of shots at the year-round ones (fam will be there for 2 years)
    3. If it's year-round, which one is your fav?

Thanks again gents, it's much appreciated!

    Throwing in my two cents:

    Founders
    Porter (year-round)
    FBS (October - December)
Any of their limited stuff: Harvest, BB, KBS, etc.

    Bells
    Hopslam (January)

    Griffin Claw
    Norm's Raggedy Ass IPA (year-round)

    Odd Side
    Citra Pale Ale (year-round)
    Mayan Mocha Stout (varies)

    Shorts
As a previous poster said, anything. Just browse their release schedule (https://www.shortsbrewing.com/beer/beer-schedule-2014/) to see what interests you.

    Kuhnhenn
DRIPA (not bottled regularly, so growler is your only option)
