    Hey everyone!

Ok, trying to get some wisdom of the masses here. Has anyone ever been to Tin Bridge in western MA? I see ads for it from time to time and the flavors (if you like adjunct forward beer) sound pretty impressive...but it IS located somewhere swiftly approaching the NY border and a Boston to Springfield run only feels worth it if I'm bringing home a few beers worth sharing.

So, I'd value your opinion. If you've been - or if you've spoken to people who have - is it worth spending a rare free Saturday afternoon on the road to bring home something like a a Maple Chili Porter or a Pineapple Cheesecake Ale that my buddies and I haven't ever had? Or do I count myself fortunate that there are great places in Eastern MA and just stick around here?

Tin Bridge is in Westfield. That's not so far from Boston - 90 minutes. Use Google or BA to find some nearby breweries in MA or northern CT. Also, you're going right by Tree House in Charlton.

Pre Shutdown Plans for Breweries in the Area

    https://valleyadvocate.com/2020/01/09/2020-brew-years-resolutions/

First of all, I haven't been to Tin Bridge.

Vanished Valley beer is very good. They just did a total overhaul and now have a full restaurant that opened (with restrictions) this past week. Their menu looks insane but I have yet to try their food.

Two Weeks notice is supposed to be good but I have never been.

Rustic makes incredible beer and I have been but they had VERY limited hours before the shutdown and I don't know what their reopening plan is. They did recently start canning beer for the first time. If you are heading out that way it is certainly worth looking at their social media for updates just in case they open.

Kismet just opened in Westfield this year. They were to-go can sales only even before the shutdown. They are open Saturdays. They supposedly make some very good sours. I have never been.

Great Awakening would have had their grand opening by now in Westfield if the shutdown hadn't happened. They are pretty tight-lipped about what their plans are but people who have had their stuff at festivals and such say it is amazing. I would keep an eye on their social media as well even though they rarely update. They have enough hype where it seems like it would be a mistake to head out west and miss their opening by a week. I have never been (obviously).

Brick and Feather is another HIGHLY notable one on the list. Great beer but probably too far north.

Westfield is not really that close to the New York border. It's not in the Berkshires. No offense, but take a look at a map.

Count me out on the Pineapple Cheesecake Ale! I might actually throw up in my mouth.

6-7 years ago they would have made a splash. Just another juice factory with coconut in places they don’t really belong.

I have relatives that live a few miles away so I stop in when I’m there. Its good, but nothing I’d go out of my way for

I know, I know, I have the whole "grew up inside 128" bias. I'm working on it!

Seriously, though, some GREAT suggestions for some down the Pike breweries that I'll have to check out! If I get to T.B. I'll let folks know how the Cheesecake beer turns out...

I live south of Boston, but truth be told, if I could get paid the same there as I do here, I’d move to Western MA tomorrow. But yes, please provide feedback on the cheesecake ale. I’m now quite curious, but more so out of morbid curiosity than interest in trying it. And wow - on the map, Brockton and Springfield get some serious shade thrown at them. Guns? Ouch.

I think the guns are because Smith and Wesson is located in Springfield.

Sheesh. I hope so. Good point. Not sure about the gun paired with boxing gloves. The boxing gloves are meant to evoke Brockton, but not sure what that gun is meant to represent. Perhaps a more benign explanation exists than what I assumed.

It isn't about Smith and Wesson...

"With 530 violent crimes for every 100,000 residents, Springfield is not only the most dangerous metro area in Massachusetts, but also the most dangerous in New England."

I live in an area that should be "?!?" but instead isn't marked with anything. That seems about right.

Tin Bridge makes real nice stuff. I wouldn't drive three hours round trip for it alone, but when paired with Two Weeks Notice, Kismet, Vanished Valley and some of the others you could easily hit in that same area it's for sure worth a day trip.

Just bumping this thread. I stopped in for the first time last weekend, and for what they are, they're great beers. Really nice pastry stouts and fruit beers. The names tell you what they taste like, it's pretty spot on.

I also had one of their IPAs too, and it was honestly great. They might focus on the gimmick beer thing, but their IPA game is really solid.

I'm convinced that if they weren't in Westfield they'd have a big following.

The South SHORE is the Irish Riviera. The South COAST is a different area; it's the New Bedford/Dartmouth/Westport/Fall River area.
