I'm new to BA and to Craft Beer in general but have become HOOKED pretty quickly. I love trying new brews and I'm always welcoming advice on what to try. Also I've noticed some brews that I have tried get gone quickly wether its something seasonal, limited edition or whatever. So I was wandering what is the best way for me to keep some of these around if I buy multiples. I have seen some threads on cellaring but my question is do I need to keep the beer cold. Most of the stuff that I buy is not already chilled so I didn't know if it was necessary to keep it cold. Probably a newbie question but we all have to learn somewhere, right? Also any suggestions on beers to try would be great......Thanks for any help!!

Well I bet this will get moved asap. Do you have a cellar?

I do not. So I store a few things at room temp.
anything over 8% and out of the UV light will be fine. Sure 55f is better, but hey this is Florida and you dig 20 feet down u hit water or start a sink hole. ask questions, follow you Own tastes. experience is a great teacher.

If you hit a bad beer, try it again some time later. You never know. ENJOY the beer journey

Find a style or three that you like and try as many beers in that style as possible. Be open minded. In general, try as many different beers as you can.

Try everything. As you learn what styles you like, keep trying more or more from that style. Resist the urge to look them up first before you buy them, as the ratings may sway you in one direction or the other. Rate the beers without looking at the current rating, too.

Try everything, but don't buy too much at once.
Try the stuff put out by breweries near you - there's probably good stuff where you are.
Sierra Nevada will start brewing in NC soon - keep your ears open for any related events.

Just drink a lot of different beer. In time, you'll catch on to what will sell quickly.

Thanks for everyones advice!!! ....I have found that I really like Stouts, Porters and IPA's are growing on me. I pretty much try what ever I can get my hands on and we do have some great Local Breweries here in NC. I'am liking Foothills so far and plan on taking some short trips to try other breweries throughout the state. Especially in Asheville.

I can see how this can be an expensive hobby, but I has been enjoyable thus far.

Try different varieties of the styles you like and dislike also. You may not like a lager per say, but may like a helles style lager, or a flavored lager.

Also, don't listen people who scoff at you for your selections. Drink what your taste buds say to drink, not what ratings or "experts" tell you to drink. you'll find your certain styles soon enough.

Try as many different styles as you can, it's tough once you find that one style that you really LOVE!
Drink the IPAs as soon as you can!
Drink stouts and porters old or new!
Don't be afraid of trying styles you, at first try, did not like.
There are some really cool people on here that can offer great advice!
Enjoy your new journey into craft beer!

Not sure if you're going to like it or not, but Westbrook Gose is an interesting beer and style. If it's not your cup of tea, they make awesome stouts.

Don't get blown out trying every IPA you can get your hands on. Try one or two new beers a week but of every style.

Beer is for drinking so only buy as much as you plan on drinking that day or weekend. Enjoy it responsibly. Don't worry about trying a certain beer from a certain brewery. Odds are you can find a beer closer to home that is virtually the same, way cheaper, and easier to get. Trading is fun. Try home brewing. Visit breweries when you can. Cook with beer when you can. Get proper glassware. Most important of all, NEVER get into an argument on this website because you will lose.

Because you are in the minority... I would bet that over time, your opinion will change. Then you'll want DIPA's...
