Tips for ordering beer online

    I've placed quite a few orders with Lets Pour and have been very pleased thus far. I need to try out France44 for some Surely goodness.

    I placed an order from thejugshop.com last week. Unfortunately, of the 9 beers I ordered (all of which were listed as in stock), only 7 showed up. Because of the two bottles not being included, my shipping costs turned out to be 50% of my order. They didn't even bother to call and tell me that they weren't shipping two. I've sinced called (yesterday) and was told I'd get a call back, which didn't happen. I emailed today and still no response. I hope they resolve this but the experience thus far has been less than desirable.

    Conversely, I ordered some beer from beership.com once and the exact same scenario happened except I got a call before they shipped, saying that some of the beer I ordered had since run out of stock and that they would ship it later for no extra charge (if it became available) or would just take it off my order. I kindly cancelled the whole order and they were extremely polite about it. I would absolutely deal with them again.

    There's a right and wrong way to handle online orders and customer service. We'll see what path The Jug Shop chooses when I call back tomorrow, for the third day in a row, and I'll post an update here.

    Update on previous message: thejugshop.com totally did right by me on my previous order. They more than made up for the difference in shipping and even offered some bottles from the cellar that weren't sold to the general public, which I kindly took them up on. In the end and despite the rocky start, they more than took care of me and did more than what I would have expected them to do in order to do right by a customer. I'll be ordering from them again in the future.

    Using sarcasm online has gotten me in deep doo-doo on Facebook. I make sure it's clear that is what I'm communicating.
