Tips For Uploading Better Quality Beer & Place Images

I do my photo editing on the computer in GIMP (free at https://www.gimp.org/)

1. Crop to 1:2 ratio
2. Resize to 150 x 300px
3. Drop the quality [JPEG compression] until it fits. The export tool estimates the size of the saved image so it's pretty straightforward.

 

Are you wanting to post the tiny pics of beers or places on the respective pages of beers or places, or are you mostly wanting to post pics in posts in the forums? Or both? Both require different procedures. The procedures are a bit of 'busy work' but once you get the hand of it, they're easy to do.

The tiny pics can be uploaded directly from your computer, and the forum posting pics also start from your computer, so can I assume you're already able to get the pics from your camera or phone moved onto your computer? (I don't know how slow or fast to go with instructions, so I'll start with slow but speed me up if I'm going too slow.)

If posting pics in the forums is your greater desire to learn, go ahead and create an account with Imgur.com and we can pick this conversation up in the next day or so once you have done that.

That's the site I use on my mobile. Works great.

 

I spent 15 minutes on this, and it's just as frustrating between the limited options, the poor default 150 X 300 (should be 225 X 300), and poor quality of the photos after resizing.

@PapaGoose03 's site would only save it as 225 X 300, even though I entered 150 X 300.

I used the link below and at least got the white space out and can resubmit if the first photo is rejected.

I have bookmarked your link so I can reuse in the future. So glad I can now upload beer photos to the entries. I was only successful once, and had issues the few times I've tried since until coming across the advice in this thread.

You know, I would take another pic because the glare is hiding details.

 

I'll have to check out this link. I use the same site but I already crop my pics to the 150x300 before uploading there. So my only use for the bulkresize.com site is to get it down below the 20kb.
