    Hello,

I am taking a trip out to Northern Indiana/Chicago for a few days (oct 18th-20th) and was wondering a few things. I am going to be going to FFF for my first time. Are there better times to go regarding bottle availablity (like zombie dust, gumball head, permanent funeral, war mullet, etc)? I would love to try and find some good Pipeworks stuff, and would love to try and hit up Goose Island in Clybourn. How often do they have BCBS variations on tap? Are there any good bottle shops/bars near the magnificent mile or any of the good museums or zoo/aquarium? I havent been to Chicago in almost 20 years so its like going for hte first time all over again.

    Any tips are greatly appreciated.

FFF is a great idea so don't miss that. ZD availability is impossible to predict, but permanent funeral and war mullet may still be around.

Goose Island Clyborn is awesome as well. Stop bye the Binny's right behind it for a bunch of goodies. They never have BCBS on tap, but South Loop Binnys (not crazy far from the museums and shit) has had BCBS on tap basically year around.

Other shops to consider: West Lakeview Liquors, The Beer Temple, Bottles and Cans

Bars/Brewpubs: Revolution, Haymarket, Half Acre, Local Option, Map Room, Piece, Bangers and Lace, SmallBar, Fountainhead, etc...

If you want Zombie Dust on tap while in Chicago go to Hopleaf, it's always available there. Other bars are hit or miss for ZD. Plus if you are into Belgians this is a must visit bar. The far northside location makes a visit to Half Acre brewery/taproom and Fountainhead bar convenient. Also just a couple of blocks north on Clark from Hopleaf is Jerry's. Great tap list (46 offered today) and they give you the option to order flight-size glasses of one or more you want to try.

Gumball won't be a problem whenever you go. Zombie no one really knows and there isn't a best day. Ever since they did the brewery improvements recently and with them searching/having a new distributor finding Zombie has been tough over the past month+.

Permanent and War Mullet were recently released, but you're not coming up for another few weeks - I'd give it maybe a 25-50% chance that either of those will still be there. But then again Drunk Monk has been there for more than a few weeks.

Either way just check this and you'll see the most updated list:

If you go to Goose Clybourn there is a Binny's directly next to it that will have all of the recent Pipeworks beers (certain new Abduction and/or Ninja beers might already be sold out, but they'll have everything else).

Click here to search for Pipeworks inventory - or just call them.

As for BCBS variations at Clybourn - it's highly unlikely unless there is an event at the Brewpub. It's mostly brewpub beers.

There is a Binny's on Grand (but I wouldn't call the selection great). The Binny's in the South Loop is your better bet.

As far as bars in that area it's pretty slim, but here are a few decent food places with a good beer selection:

    Mag Mile:
Farmhouse (farm-to-table - decent beer selection - would be going more for the food)
    http://farmhousechicago.com/
Watershed (decent bottle list - limited drafts, but good for happy hour/small plates)
    http://watershedbar.com/

    Other areas:
Maria's (a little further south than what you asked for - but worth it)
    http://community-bar.com/
Au Cheval (if you need a place for dinner and you have a small group get your ass here and eat the burger)
