I have some wine glass style beer glasses I need to ship out. They seem pretty fragile, so I wanted to see if you guys have some tips. I tried to search this forum but didn't find anything like this. They are a long stem which is probably fairly fragile and then the bulb is thin. Thanks everyone!
I would try to wrap some bubble wrap around the stem a few times and then wrap the whole thing a couple times around that. Put it in a box with some packing peanuts or more bubble wrap so it's a little snug but will still feel safe then put that in another bigger box filled with some peanuts and more wrap. I'd also put some bubble wrap and paper inside of the bulb.
I never understood putting stuffing inside of a glass. Will some bubble wrap and newspaper inside really keep a glass from breaking? Its softer than the glass itself.
I've only shipped one glass so far, but I stuffed some inside of the glass because I figured it was better to have something against the inside of the glass just in case there were some pressure on it during shipping. Better than nothing at all.
Scotch/whiskey tubes are great for this, if they'll fit. Same concept with the bubble and packing, but individual, "hard" sided containment for your glasses. Quick thought to add. Could also check shipping suppliers for poster tubes. Usually offered in various dimensions, and could cut to length.
Order a glass from Sierra Nevada, they'll show you how it's done. They have the Beer Camp mini snifters for $3.50 shipped right now. Wrap the glass in an oversized box, fill the bottom of the box up with some sort of filler like paper or peanuts, place the wrapped glass in, then fill around and on top of the glass with more filler. The key to not breaking things is making sure there is no room in the box so the item is not only cushioned, but can't move around.
