I'm sure it's a factor in other beers as well, but that singular very good batch of AC recently made me want to give it two entries. It's easy to imagine variability is a factor in many other beers that I either just don't notice or don't give a chance, though.

Well since covid it's selling much faster so it's also fresher than it has been since they made it a regular thing. That may contribute in part. Just a thought. But certainly getting it less than a week old versus up to a month old might have something to do with it, unless you've been exclusively buying fresh batches only. Not saying that's the whole deal but certainly a fresh aromatic can might influence things. But yeah I'm sure hop crop variations too.

Good point. It had been a while since I made a point to buy AC at all.

Yeah I was shocked to see AC sold out. Tempted to run over and grab some saisons though. We’ll see

Also, I’m just kinda curious: why is the Tired Hands thread so dormant compared to the other threads in the region? I’m a big fan of what TH does yet they don’t really seem to get the buzz that others do....but then again I kinda like it that way. Fuck hype.

Where do Eviscerated Pathway and Extra Extra Knuckle fit into that ranking? My two favorites, and the first one is brewed very regularly, more often than some of the others on your list.

Some serious brewing is being overlooked in PA: Bonn, BG, Free Will, F&M, the controversial Sole/Separatist production + Fermentary Form and a continuation

But it’s no more dormant than anything else in the region, when stacked up against BK

Well said. It was a rhetorical question but this is as good an answer as any, especially since I haven’t heard of Bonn, BG (well, maybe I just don’t know the shorthand) and the the last few. Haven’t had Free Will (the brewery [i think?]) in ages.

    Appreciate your perspective as always:beers:

(also I don’t think I would’ve known about F&M without your contributions, so I owe you a pint or few of Bitter someday)

Agreed, nothing is other half level contribution considering a core group has developed inside jokes, had meet ups, and at the bare minimum will post every release description and it least comment on their "worthiness" to the pantheon. Its not technically a ton of people, but a handful very committed. Helps that there are a decent number of NYC dwellers posting and frequent OH. Ardmore.. Not so much. Most people here are suburban PA or southern NJ. doesn't allow the same ", relationship."
Also since milkshake IPAs became MEH the hype factor is down. But whatever they have a great variety of offerings even if their IPAs aren't #elite.

Mostly agree, especially #1 and #2, but this last Technicolor was outstanding, and could easily be #3. Conversely, I thought the latest We Are All Infinite was not great, could be in the #11 spot. What I really loved a couple of weeks ago was Personal Daily Best, one of my favorite TIPAs ever.

Agreed on oblivex. It just has that bite to it that is so intriguing

This is a fun idea to list and rank THBC! . I think we need to lengthen the list a bit, lol. There are a few other rotational beers, In my opinion, that are in the top 5 category such as Extra Extra Knuckle. So good when fresh. Also let’s not forget about Eviscerated pathway and Lush Life!

Boy that would be a tough list for me to compile, IPAs only?

Damn, AC for sure at the top, EVPoB and Refreshing included, Death Tripper, Punge for sure, the rest I have to think about. Hail Santa included? Loved that beer over the last two years.

Good luck, mine went bad. I had one maybe a month ago and let's just say age did not do this one well. The beer turned into a soy sauce tart type thing. Coconut was still there, but for me it was horrible....a drain pour actually. Shame too.

Let me know what you think of it please if you crack it.

Yeah that seemed like a beer that wouldn't age well... Heavy adjuncts and sweet. Best case it ends up a very expensive can of imperial stout with a hint of whatever adjunct might cling to life. Honestly, if it's not a barrel aged non adjunct stout I can't see holding onto it past 6 months or so, but I know as well as anyone how an unintentional collection can add up so can't criticize.
Basically, I can't fault Tired Hands too much personally if a pastry stout like that won't cellar well or what-have-you. But hey, maybe they'll be lucky and their can held up. Interesting experiment if nothing else.

I have been assembling their Gatherer (collab w/ 18th Street) releases since 2018. Been saving a can from each release. So far i got a can of '18 and a can of '19 in the back of the fridge. Looking for the years 2017 and i think there is a 2016 out there too. If anyone knows of anybody looking to move these 2 years let me know. Thought it will be fun to do a vertical of all the various years when i turn 40 in 2021. Could turn into a disaster or i may end up quite surprised but nonetheless a fun experiment!

I think 2017 was first year for it, in my experience it holds up pretty well, had a 2017 a month ago and it was great

Cool man! Thanks for the information on Gatherer. Glad to hear you liked 2017 and that it held up. Do you happen to have access to more of 2017?

I still have a Gatherer 16 can. I was able to get a 4 pack of Gatherer 17 last year off of Instagram.
