Punge is an incredible beer, and imo up there with the best Treehouse IPAs. They recently released Grassman and Flower with a butterfly. IMO seems like they mix it up pretty well. Also they just released two new saison bottles.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving the fact that they’re bringing back the favorites, esp Punge.

It's like people aren't even aware that Tired Hands sells bottles of some of the best beer available anywhere, many of which exhibit lots of creativity without the gimmicks they sometimes employ when throwing ingredients into their IPAs.

Speaking of, anyone have reviews of some of the more recent bottles? Any standouts?

Not really a recent Release but just split another bottle of frequency illusion (Grenache) with my wife the other night. That stuff is awesome. Can’t decide if it tastes more like a saison or wine. Anyone try the other frequency illusions or like one better than Grenache?

Talked to Jean yesterday (was brewing beer with the brewers @ EBBC in D'town), he stated that he is focused on opening St Oners in Philly by as early as next week, but no later than the end of the month. The Biergarden in Philly should open on 4/17/20. Cheers!

Going to be in town with the family in tow this weekend. Any lines to speak of at Comcast?

Haven't been there on the weekend. No crowd during the week. Keep in mind that they're closed Sundays.

The beer in the bottles is fantastic. But I really wish they came in a more affable format. 375ml is perfect. Other breweries do it, why not TH?

Bright Hellish Oblivion was the best new hazy they've released in a long while.

I don't know if it's my palate or that they changed things up, but none of the milkshakes do it for me anymore. To me they used to be nice and thick and creamy with strong vanilla and hint of sweetness with whatever adjunct they used for that particular shake. Now to me the fruit and sweetness stand out much more to where it's a chore to get through. Even the last Extra Vanilla I had was kind of thin.

At what point does quality suffer because they’re making so much to keep up demand at so many locations. Opening up a third location in phila now? I don’t understand the point of having 5 locations plus the general store. Have one or two locations and do it well without compromising quality. Unfortunately brewers sometimes would rather compromise quality for quantity and max profit. Not saying this has happened to Tired Hands yet, but geez how many locations are they going to have.

I think Trillium has a good model going on right now: location in the city, location in the "suburbs", a beergarden during warmer weather months.

For what it worth, I view the Ferm/General Store/Brew Cafe as one encompassing location at this point.

Re: shakes....my palate just doesn't care much for lactose IPAs (even from Other Half as well). I'll drink them but not often. Just to heavy. Give me the lower octane stuff that's a tad thinner any day of the week. Also, shakes aren't limited anymore. And i'm sure our perceptions have subconsciously changed as a result.

I would be happy with a 500 ml bottle, for some of the saisons 750 is a lot to get through alone

Most of Free Will's wild/sour/barrel aged beers are available in either 375 ml or 500 ml bottles which I think is a good size. Also keeps the price lower for trying out a beer.

Do you have any information they are having to 'rush' beer production?

Anecdotally they do not seem to be selling their beers as briskly during their weekly releases. Maybe they need more retail places (e.g., 5) to move their product since they no longer sell out in their Wednesday releases? Plus anecdotally there seems to be bottles at the General Store that just sit and collect dust so...

    Cheers!

    Re: Wednesday releases

They usually wait until Thursday to put up leftover cans on Dudley Direct. This past week, they had all cans immediately available on Wednesday morning which I thought was weird.

Speaking of Dudley Direct, I was disappointed to see recently that the shipping costs went up a good bit. Last time I ordered (about 6 months ago) it was $23 to ship to my home (I'm about 2 hours from Ardmore). I went to order something last week and the shipping was $35, so I didn't place the order. It's still not great, but I could swallow $23 to ship every once in a while. But $35? No thanks. They really need to figure out a way to get that shipping cost down. For starters they should stop sending with those ice packs, especially in the cooler months.

It's the combo of 4 four packs and the high shipping costs that make it not cost effective. I live in Harrisburg but my parents still live in Philly. I stop into Tired Hands probably twice a month since it's on my way home.

I understand logistically it's a pain for them. But it's really only cost effective if you are splitting with someone
