The chair place holders pissed me off too, but it isn't worth getting into a fight over. One group was already pretty tuned up before noon and looked like they would fight at the drop of a hat... (Jersey plates and neck tattoos just saying). I do wish security would have said you can only pick one line and stay there... But secure there is just making sure nothing ridiculous happens, not to really enforce rules...

Most of those beers are not available for growlers. Right now the chalkboard is completely different that the printed/online menu and they will be swapping them out accordingly, not sure exactly when. There's no telling what will be on tap for growlers on Thursday. Best to get your friend to take a photo of the menu, text it to you, and you can decide then.

I actually didn't realize that this happened, but I was there much later (got there at 1.15pm). Definitely not a fair thing to do to put up 2 chairs for 2 lines. I just now talked to a friend who did this I told him I think it was not fair to do that to other people. Security had their hands full and kind of hard to really do anything about it since the only line that was "manned" was the Ferm line (at least when the Para Bar line was forming). I think TH expected people to be better on their own. This is definitely one of those things people should email TH about so that won't happen again.

A side note, I probably know the people you're talking about, including the NJ plates and neck tattoos (per inference from conversations with other people). Just like the rest of much of the craft beer community people, I seriously doubt they'd be fighting anyone regardless of how lit they were on alcohol.

I would hope not, but wasn't worth it for me to find out. Shouldn't judge them so that is wrong on my part.

I saw security kick a few people out of line when they tried to cut or jump in next to friends and I really appreciated that. It would be better if they cracked down on chairs too but I'm glad those guys were there. It helped keep some order.

Honestly, I feel like TH is damned if they do, damned if they don't. I'm all for lower limits if it means more people get beer. People are only pissed because they have less beers to trade. Have your 4-pack, drink it and enjoy it. There is always so much drama around these releases.

Also, the dude chugging the milkshake is for sure a ****. Is that supposed to be impressive? If you want to get fucked up, chug something cheaper. Whatever. That's just two less beers someone else got to actually enjoy, just for some e-peen.

Yeah. I dont blame security, but it was crazy seeing the first 20-30 chairs empty at 11 then seeing people drop off cans in their cars (all right next to the people in line to get in the ferm) then go fill in the chairs at the front with 2-3x the number of people per chair. I still got in during the first wave so it didnt affect me, but people who were behind me sure werent as lucky.

A co-worker went and grabbed me a 4-pack - first time I had their beer in cans! He said he waited 3 hours, pretty brutal.

I have to say, the beer tasted incredible and fresh. I was a huge fan of TH when I first visited their original location, and in the last year or so I was either getting over their kinds of beer or the quality was just missing. This was the best thing I've had from them.

If I could walk to a store and buy this I probably would every week. I'm at an age where I just don't think I can do mega-insane lines for a chance at a couple cans of beer any more. Nothing is THAT good...

They never said they didn't expect a big turnout did they....

I read something that they posted and it said something like this is the first time we are doing this so please bear with us. Sounds like the event went pretty well to me. If you didn't expect it to be a madhouse you have never been to a tired hands can release before.

This will be their 3rd can release in less than a week. I'm guessing it might last a bit. Doubtful it'd make it past the next day early afternoon.

One can, presumably a decent-sized yield, a repeat can, and maybe a bit of Tired Hands fatigue after Milkshakes and the anniversary party ... I'm thinking this one lasts until the next day, or at least is easy to pick up into tomorrow night.

The instagram post is already covered in comments about chairs being used to hold spaces in line. :grimacing:

I wouldn't put it past TH to raise the limit and sell out within an hour but we'll see.

So not reading through 11 pages, but may swing by the taproom, or should I say fermentaria, next Sunday for the first time. Is there any method to the madness of releases? It seems like they get announced sporadically, but are they always the same day or do they vary? I imagine most releases sell out day of, but what is the likelihood of getting cans on non-release days? Hoping it's a non release day and I can just swing in, swing out with some cans and avoid craziness. Otherwise, I'll just bring a few growlers and get them filled. Thanks for the info!

There is virtually no chance of you buying cans but there is a good chance that they'll have some bottles for sale. You can call and ask what they have or maybe someone that has been there since Sunday can chime in about what bottles are still around.

Last sunday was the first can release on a weekend. The rest have all been midweek and there is one tomorrow at 5pm.

Chance of cans are slim to none. They have tons of Ourision bottles still sitting on the shelf. Make sure you have Tired Hands growlers to fill, if not they will gladly trade in your current ones for their growlers since they only fill Tired Hands branded growlers. Enjoy your time!

Thanks for the suggestions! Will have to trade in my growlers for the TH ones. Are they cap or swing top? Thanks again!
