Thanks all for the replies! Getting a table isn't even that big of a deal, going for the beer after all. Just don't want to be stuck on the outside looking in for a while.

I was there a couple of Friday's ago and commented that I had to wait outside for about 5 mins+. When I got inside, the first floor was full with people at the bar and tables but there was NOBODY standing anywhere on the first floor. So I guess capacity means seats filled because they were making people stand and wait outside even though there was PLENTY of open space when you you first walked in the door on first floor. Not complaining but I can't think of another place that I have been in where there are not at least some people standing in open space either behind stools, etc. I met a couple of people there who had never been there before and they commented that it was very strange.

I vaguely remember seeing something about increasing production of certain specials as well (HandFarm).

Hopefully they also use the new production space to sell stuff (growlers, tastings, bottles, merch), to alleviate the pressure on the brewpub experience.

I am guessing it is just their personal preference to what 'capacity' is; which means all bar stools and tables occupied.
