I got there at 5:05. By the time I got to the door, the line was still past the parking lot. I got cans, and there were about 10 cases left when I checked out at 6:20ish.

It seemed to me that 6 was roughly the cutoff time to get in line, maybe as late as 6:15 but I don't think so. Hophands cutoff was earlier, about 5:45. The line was surprising because it didn't get very short so I think some people did go home empty handed and everyone that got cans had to wait in line for some time.

It won't. Their bottles are great, but their taps aren't even close to Tired Hands quality. While obviously just my opinion, their taps are mediocre at best. Food is great though.

I'd say you're about right. Figure 3 allotments to a case yesterday, as I assume everyone was buying two 4packs. When I checked out at about 6:10, There looked to have been 14/15 cases left. That's 45ish total allotments left, if my math is right. When I walked out, that line was still tight past the bus stop to the end of the parking lot. I think to be safe you needed to be there by 6 at the latest.

had read about a guy who got there at 6:30 and he mentioned he was a few people back from the last to get mango

so if there is a major demand can release and there are 420 allotments predict that by 6:30 you are too late... 6 would be cutting it close too

"Hophands cutoff was earlier, about 5:45"

How many cases were available of HopHands and what was the permitted amount for purchase?

    Cheers!

200 allotments of Hophands (100 cases) versus 420 of Milkshake.

Thanks, the smaller allotments for HopHands explains why this beer was sold out before 6:00.

    Cheers!

I wonder if they are trying to correct the issues with Hop Hands? Maybe dialing back to the amount it use to be before expansion? Idk, just a thought - anyone try it yet?

That is an interesting thought. Solely addressing this from a diacetyl (buttery flavor) perspective, the principle way that a beer could suffer from diacetyl is a rushed schedule (i.e., insufficient tank time to permit the yeast to process the 'excess' diacetyl that formed during active fermentation). Maybe they are extending the production schedule of HopHands accordingly?

    Cheers!

Or the hop hands batch is split between kegs/serving tanks and cans so the don't have the entire tank for cans.

Beats me. While I know a lot about the brewing process I have zero insight on how Jean runs his brewery.

    Cheers!

Me neither. I'm just throwing things out there.

It's hard to believe they would leave money on the table by not brewing to capacity though.

    Others have made similar comments.

I posted previously concerning one of the canned batches: "I am drinking a HopHands that was canned on 05/25/16 and it has perceptible diacetyl (buttery flavor); disappointing."

My wife is not as sensitive to diacetyl as I am so I gave here the last can of the four-pack, She remarked that it didn't taste good (not a buttery thing) and dumped that can. My wife is topically a BIG fan of HopHands; she will order this beer when we go the the Tired Hands brewpub(s).

    Cheers!

I had HopHands the other night at my local taphouse and thought it tasted fine, like it always does. But I never really understood the HopHands hype to be honest. Very good pale ale but nothing special IMO.

Had my first hophands from the prior batch about a week ago, and was disappointed given the mostly good reviews/score on the website. Didn't detect any diacetyl and I'm pretty aware of it usually, but I just thought the beer was pretty plain and I would not describe it as hoppy/juicy as others did.

You can say that about EVERY Tired Hands beer and be on point the majority of times.

I have had those (and others), I like them a lit but I like what Tired Hands does a lot more.

Shhhh, the Tired Hands saisons are readily available on their shelves and are secretly some of the best beers they do. No Milkshakes here, nothing to see, keep moving!
