Hoping this week's release is Wednesday. Just drove up from Atlanta today.

It's slower because it's summer, though even before summer the releases had started to slow down. It may end up where FOMO only brings out hordes of can-buyers for OV day and anniversary releases any more.

I also wonder if the secondary market for these has cooled off.

What is considered a fast sellout for cans? In a hypothetical releases of two double shakes, what time would they sellout? I will be driving from Wilmington and leaving the office around 5.

I don't know if summer has anything to do with it considering what they've released this summer has been more "hype-worthy" than other seasons. I'd say the reduction in allotments with increases in yield has certainly made it easier. My perception overall is that secondary for hop cans, with a few exceptions, have gone down as more breweries are catching up with the quality of previously stand-outs.

I would agree with this, the new england style market is completely saturated at this point regionally that you are pretty much just trading to tick rare releases and not really for the style. There are even some shelfies now that I enjoy, whether local or nationwide.

Last summer's can releases were noticeably less crowded than other seasons. Ditto with bottle releases back when they were a thing.

Yeah Tired Hands has had some good shock and awe this summer with releases but it wasn't always for the best... Are They Okay has been the worst beer Ive had this year..

Snowglobed or just off in another way?

Both.. Overly sweet, muted hop profile, chunks of whatever the fuck you want to call it.. just an overall disappointment at what I think is their most expensive price point yet.

I know you got other answers, but from what I remember most of the D2H3 beers usually last quite awhile. Some were even released as General Store only.

Honestly? I'm done with their triple and quad IPAs just for this reason. Too much sweetness and too much booze. My personal opinion.

Tired Hands has done good triples in the past (Daily Personal Best); but yeah, Are They Okay is a breach, I'm not trusting them on any more triples/quads at that price point. Not the worst tasting beer I've ever had but definitely the worst looking beer I've seen in a long time and disgusting mouthfeel to boot.

Agreed. It was a drainpour for me. Everything seemed to be working against each other, the beer was a total mess and very lacking in any kind of flavor. It was a huge disappointment, because Are We Okay? is one of my all time favorite beers from them, and their triple/quad IPA game has been strong as of late. I thought they were over syrupy sugar bombs, but apparently not.

Answering my own question on what a hype release might look like:

Ok so what time would you expect the first can to sellout. If I am there by 7:00 am I good?

I dunno, I expect the idea of bananas in an IPA will turn a lot of people off.

Like usual with high demand releases, we have no idea until allotments drop. Pretty high variability.

Don't need that Banana Shake nor that line, but definitely want Gatherer... this is exactly the type of release that trading is perfect for.

I love gatherer a lot and I save some of last years and drank them every 2-3 months. It got less and less appealing. Even and weird carbonation by the end, I’m guessing from honey but who knows. Just my input for anyone considering buying the 2017 version tomorrow. And I agree bananas in beer. High road I’d happily scoop up if I were going.

No prob. Beer is subjective but it got consistently thinner, it never was a bad beer just not the beer that it was. It kind of had a minor seltzer water carb feel towards the end. Not the creamy soft carb it normally had. Maybe some people felt different but trying to just describe how it was after about the 6-8 month mark.
