I don't think the wristbands would have been considered a failure (by Tired Hands) if people didn't complain so loudly about it. People got there, didn't get wristbands, and went home only to find out later there was still beer left, and they lost their shit about it. I think it would only take 1-2 weeks for people to get the hang of wristbands and figure out that no wristband doesn't neccessarily mean no beer.

From Tired Hands' point of view though, they tried to help people out and improve their system, and all they heard was shit about it, so why would they keep doing it?

i see. thanks for the clarification. so i guess the only people who would have known about it were the ones who showed up early anyhow, so they got something assuming they could make it back before then. i see the point you were making about pushing the time up, but that's not really what happened since those people were lined up for a regular release anyhow. there's never going to be a 'perfect system', and there's always a way that doesn't work for one group as well as it does for another. but looking at those chairs, someone has got to be thinking 'there must be a better way'

If you're putting chairs up for a beer release to "hold your spot" it might be time to evaluate some things.

I don't understand all of the anger, concern, judgment, whatever about the chairs. I obviously can't speak for every person, but I'm comfortable guessing that virtually everyone who puts a chair down then goes inside the Ferm to grab something to eat and/or drink, in effect further supporting the brewery. How is sitting at a bar stool any different, let alone worse, than sitting in a chair staring at your phone for a few hours? Yes, if someone's dropping a chair and then going back to work, or home to take a nap or something, or if at 4:55 p.m. that chair suddenly belongs to a group of people, that's a dick move, but in my experience that's not what's happening.

Haha. The police caring about chairs on a sidewalk would be almost as comical as people complaining about them online.

If people were genuinely concerned about the township's codes, I could actually understand; I'd still laugh at their misdirected anger, but I'd get it. But if we're being honest, I'm guessing that the most angered people here rarely, if ever, attend a Tired Hands release or any other well-attended release, and are simply upset that chairs, lines, hype, etc. combine to prevent them from easily acquiring many beers. Releases are supposed to be fun, or at least as much fun as waiting on a line for hours can be; who cares if people hang out inside for a bit? It's really not that big of a deal.

In reality, everyone should be pleased with how chill the Tired Hands releases typically are. Go to an Other Half release to see what you could be dealing with.

pina colada being tapped led to a mass exodus of seat-warmers over to brew cafe to have a few only to return a minute before five for the release. so that was at least 2 hours.

how many beers can you drink in two hours, then drive, then turn right back around (because you're at the front of the line), and get on the road? no the vast majority isn't doing that, but it's scary to think about. same guys who did that also cracked open cans they brought beforehand

    i actually recognize those chairs.

If people choose to get drunk and then drive home, that's on them. That's an entirely separate issue from whether sitting inside or physically in your chair is an issue worth discussing each week. You're always going to have a few idiots, but THEY have to take personal responsibility for their actions - it has nothing to do with the actual act of leaving a chair on a sidewalk - and anyone that bothered by a specific instance should police the line themselves instead of crying on this thread.

i definitely agree, i just think that the chair thing invites bad behavior and gave an example as such. it's not separate because that's what allowed them to go on a bender while somehow being in line. you said they're all at the fermentaria, but you don't know that. i wasn't monitoring these guys, i brought a book. they were very vocal about what they were up to. i also mentioned it because i wondered if your opinion would change if you knew otherwise. for example, someone said they could have put their chair in line before going to work. is that okay with you?

edit: i'm not saying complaining about it every week isn't old, don't get me wrong. but it doesn't make it right.

To those who say that those in line are "unemployed" remember colleges aren't in session right now.

I'm not insulting them. They have the schedule to allow waiting in line through the middle of the day, more power to them.

 (I wish there were a laughing face)
