Just chased some chocolate cake with some Undertow. Blueberry and the merlot distinctly on the nose, smooth but great cleansing finish, more of like a nice red wine finish. Overall been impressed with the recent bottle releases, very excited to hopefully see the general store stocked like this.

So can someone tell me what the Uber situation is in Ardmore? Is it generally easy to get an Uber in the Fermentaria area?

Where are you coming from/going to? If it's Center City related it's right by the Septa stop which is by far your best bet. If it's bouncing around the burbs I can't speak to the ease of ride sharing.

I've used uber/lyft to get to and from the café and ferm numerous times, always coming from or returning to Conshy or East Norriton. Never a hitch. If its a weeknight maybe allow for a little extra time, but I'd be shocked if you were relying on them and became stranded there.

On a different note, anybody know a) why they changed "Purple Pecker" to "Pur Pec" (which is freakin delicious, by the way), b) if this will see bottles from one or both breweries, and c) if this will be on tap on f&m at some point too?

I remember hearing it was called Purple Pecker originally, so seems a little odd that they shortened it. Just to avoid having Pecker in the name maybe? I also thought I remembered hearing that it would be bottled. Maybe they're saving the full name for the bottles? Or maybe f&m has some of the batch too and will be calling it that? Just looking for whatever info is available on this beer because the thought of a collab between my 2 favorite breweries was awesome and then getting to try the result last night confirmed that it is indeed awesome!

Newbie here to Tired Hands. Traveling to Philly for work today. Saw the General Store had the fridge stocked with Hop Hands on Sunday, but closed on Mon, while the Fermentaria is open today. I assume I wouldn't be able to get cans of Hop Hands to-go from the Fermentaria this afternoon? Sorry for the question, and thanks in advance.

Probably not, I think they are just stocking the fridge at the general store at this point. But you can call and ask. This is all pretty new at this point.

Yesterday afternoon, the General Store fridge was full of HopHands cans dated 6/7/2017. Snagged a 4-pack, and it was quite good. Flavorful and not overly sweet like their higher gravity IPAs tend to be, no flaws and none of that sharp bitterness that it had acquired when they first started brewing it on the 20 barrel system. I was quite happy with it.

I'm slightly less happy that Shambolic is limit 1 PP. I hope that is temporary and they set up their rackhouse to produce more of it on the reg as part of their "returning to our Saison roots" or whatever.

Correct, they are "trying", key word here, trying to keep Hop Hands in stock at the package store only. If the package store is closed, they won't be selling it at the Ferm.....and I'm ok with that. I like that they are trying to keep it in stock at the package store, it's a good first step.

With Hop Hands available most of the time at the General Store it seems so far, I wonder if they'll ever include it again in their weekly can releases. It seemed as though Hop Hands was always the "other" beer, paired with something else that pulled the greater interest. Maybe/hopefully we'll start getting Hop Hands variations like D2H3.

Should be a pretty easy release...

Do these Wednesday releases always sell out? If they don't, do extras get taken to the general store for the following day? Was planning a trip in tomorrow and was wondering how things worked, thanks in advance.

There probably won't be a crazy crowd for these, but they will most likely sell out Wed night. I'm thinking if you get there by 6pm you should be good (assuming normal yields).

Cool thanks for the quick response. Actually meant to say I was going in Thursday and was hoping there would be leftovers but sounds like that is wishful thinking. Maybe something else on Thursday...

Yeah highly unlikely Oblivex or Pineal last to Thursday. You might be able to get HopHands at the General Store on Thursday though.

If they don't sell out Wednesday....if....they sell the remaining cans at the Ferm on Thursday starting at Noon not at the General Store. I'm not sure these will all sell out Wednesday night. I think Oblivex might but not Pineal....guess we shall see. I still have a few cans of Pineal from the last release, it's a good beer but not a great beer IMO.

So with the General Store open, do they no longer have bottles and merch for sale at the Ferm?

Doubtful. I believe they'll still sling bottles of Ourison and maybe Shambolic from the shelves at the Ferm, especially since they offer it for on-site consumption.

Am I the only one who is a bit puzzled by the General Store? Bottles don't exactly fly off the shelves these days. A whole store dedicated to bottles and merch from one brewery doesn't seem particularly sustainable to me.

Yeah, I gotta agree. It just seems kind of useless and pointless. Sure, as a customer it's nice to browse in a not so crowded space, but yeah, I just don't get it from a business perspective.
