I got to taste the 666 anvs beer thanks to a friend.

It was ok. Tart artificial fruit flavors, like in kids candy.

Glad I didn't stand in line for 5+ hours for this. For 30 seconds of my time and half the price I could pick up a cheap beer and some sweet tarts and just do that instead lol. I'm kidding. Kinda.

Standing in line for 5+ hours?? Whoa....that's crazy.

Seeing how I've never been....are weekends regularly a shit-show? For instance, If I showed up this Friday at say 3 or 4pm at the Ferm. Can I get in? Was thinking of doing a Philly beer tour this weekend. Thanks for any info.

Yeah at that time it probably wouldn't be crowded at all. They very rarely do Friday can releases but they sometimes have cans leftover from a Wednesday or Thursday release that day.

Not when I got to the front of the line around 3pm. There were only 2 working iPads. They said they had 3 but one broke. Never saw 4 but I have no idea what was going on when the line first started.

    For me it was 9am-3pm.

The triple vanilla on nitro was killer (might be the only nitro beer I've ever enjoyed). Just hope it doesn't impact my opinion on the non-nitro when I try the can.

It bugs me that with all the revenue they're taking in, they can't invest in a real POS system for can releases that doesn't constantly malfunction the way the iPads seem to. I think Square is great but it doesn't seem dependable to handle the large volume of customers they get at these can releases. They have POS inside, I don't get why they can't get 4 mobile kiosks outside to make the can releases more dependably smooth.

I've been to a couple of releases where they end up with 1 functioning iPad for checkout. At first, I can understand that, but now it's kind of ridiculous they can't invest a little extra money there to make life easier for the customers and the employees.

I do believe it comes down to marketing and that it helps create artificially long lines. There's tons of literature out there about this kind of stuff here's one:

    http://www.businessinsider.com/the-psychology-of-standing-in-lines-2015-9

It's weird and twisted but the higher the chance of a long line the better chance people will want to come and stand in it, regardless of the beer at the end of the line. To the point that readily available beer is called a "shelf turd" in this community. Sad but true.

Interesting read. I'm sitting here playing out the shitstorm if TH served the last in line first. What a day it would be!

There has to be some incentive for Tired Hands to change or upgrade their system. As demonstrated by yesterday, there definitely isn't any incentive at the moment. No judgment towards the people waiting 5-6 hours for cans (especially when the chair system makes it more convenient), I just hope these aren't the same people complaining about wait times.

I stopped by yesterday around 2:30 in hopes that the line would have died down and would be moving swiftly, but after 5 min of waiting in a stagnant line moving even slower than usual that I was going to have to spend the better part of my day there and ditched it. Excited for this new Emptiness I grabbed, at least!

Weekends are crowded like any other brewery but never a "shitshow.". You'll pretty much only be waiting for a table like any good restaurant.

Don't let this weekends events dissuade you from visiting the brewery. I've never had any issues with extreme crowds.

I highly recommend making an online reservation for the Ferm to minimize your wait time and maximize your beer tasting experience. Weekends can be unpredictable.

Every time I end up at one of these releases I'm amazed that the residents of the area continue to put up with a crowd like that and haven't complained more. Perhaps they have, but I would think if there was enough complaining they wouldn't be allowed to do it anymore. There were multiple times where I saw people just trying to walk by on the sidewalk and were forced to walk on the grass or in the street to get around (including a mom with a stroller and 2 other kids by her side). Also people trying to get out of their driveways on Athens and having to wait for the crowd of people to get out of the way.

At one point where I was at in line, a cop was walking by telling people they had to tighten up to leave enough room on the sidewalk for non-liners to use the sidewalk as well. Only saw him once, and that provided space didn't last long after he left.

The earliest can line I remember went from the garage door to Rittenhouse, and up Rittenhouse towards Lancaster. I think the businesses complained b/c the line was blocking folks from getting into their businesses. Then it went the opposite way towards the Cricket parking lot (now a construction mess). You weren't allowed to line up by that apartment building on the corner b/c I believe the residents were fed up folks were in chairs/standing right outside their windows. TH acknowledged in that instance, and you had that big gap in the line. Then the line went down that side street and headed back towards Cricket. My guess, someone or someone(s) complained and the line took the opposite turn on Athens and is now what it is. Sooner or later enough complaints will come in again (my guess). Who knows what they'll do from there? There's only so many directions they have left to use lol.

just had someone tell me it would be $300 for a 4 pack of triple vanilla and a mixed of OV. im sure these are great, but are there actually people insane enough to spend that much on a can of beer?

I heard folks were paying upwards of $100 for a single can of King Julius...

unsure if that is meant to make this seem reasonable by comparison... secondary is only what it is because people are willing to pay it i guess.
