Sounds like they may have tweaked it some, but I had the Jolly Pumpkin version of Alien Church way back and it tasted nothing like Alien Church. The oak from the JP barrels really dominate the flavor.

Anyone get D2H3:Simcoe? I had a couple fresh and thought they were good. However, my last two cans turned brown and tasted horrible. Why would they oxidize so quickly like that?

The Jolly Pumpkin Alien Church is horrible.

jean is one of the board members of the town if i remember correctly, i'm sure residents complain and i'm sure things get voted on and i'm sure other board members are both for and against things but Tired Hands has positioned themselves very well in the town of Ardmore... what really sucks is that big lot became a fucking town-home center or whatever the shit

The Tired Hands visit was amazing. I went to the Fermentaria. The fish tacos were delicious. Their IPAs are fruity and excellent, but the beers that really blew my mind were SaisonHands, Seht, and Prayer Group. Tired Hands' mixed fermentation program is world-class, imo.

Yeah this is pretty much what it was. OJ with mangos. It was good not not worth the time I waited in line for it. I was one of the weirdos who wanted to try that guys pizza at 7am. The line started moving and he wasn’t even making pizza 40 minutes after I waited. I got to the front and got a single meatball and a can of OJ for $5. The pizza started coming out right after I got to the register and I asked the TH guy what the deal was. I didn’t want to get back in line for pizza and he didn’t have an answer for me. It was pretty disorganized. People who were early didn’t get pizza and the people who were late didn’t get oj...

Question from a n00b here: can you get a crowler of anything that's pouring at the Brew Cafe? And also, how long do the beers last on tap there? Just trying to gauge if I have any chance of getting a fill of MagoTago or the Anniversary shake when I visit this weekend.

Heading to Tired Hands Saturday at Noon for lunch. How likely will there be cans of Alien Church and D2H3 Mosaic leftover from tomorrow?

Hard to say. Usually they don't last that long but given the huge release this weekend and the fact it's AC and D2H3, it's definitely possible.

Typically yes - that being said, with these mostly being beers from the anniversary weekend, I could see them not wanting to package these up. You can always call in advance to confirm. I'd say beers are typically on for a bit but again, with these beers from the anniversary, they may not have made the most, and much of it may have been drank already.

Either way, I'd strongly suggest you get a taste before jumping to full crowler - my pour had a strong and unpleasant burn.

They posted on their instagram that MagoTago is available for Crowlers. Definitely try first, I heard the first time they released that beer that the unripened mangos had a bad chemical reaction and created a burning sensation

Didn't see that - good call. Most definitely had a burning sensation when I had it on Sunday. That being said, when it first came out on draft it was unbelievable so I won't give up hope...

I think you mean the second time. The first time they released it many raved about it (which helps to explain the extreme backlash when it was awful in cans).

Not having had cans of shakes before (only growlers), what's people's experience with how quickly these tend to fall off?

Most Shakes get a little better and don't peak until a few weeks to a month after release, but others can get sludgy over time as well. Depends on the variety.

I wonder if these anniversary beers will last into the weekend? I can only hope. With all the hustle Sunday I didn't get a chance to stop at the café.

Ended up doing the full weekend with Tired Hands.

Friday did the show at Union Transfer downtown. 3 different beers from Monkish on tap at each bar at the venue. I didnt see the kegs of Side Project and Suarez get tapped, heard a rumor that Union Transfer didnt have the right permits to serve beer from MO and NY.. not sure if that is true or not but still sucks. (where are those kegs now BTW? Jeans house?)

Saturday went over to the Ferm around 3pm. Saturday was the day. The Ferm was crowded but the staff handled it perfectly. Great beers on tap (Nitro shake and the BA Resiling Frequency were near perfection). Was able to do the Christian booth and taste the upcoming Para blends. Christian is literally on another planet. Went over to the Cafe, had both shakes and hung out for a bit. Great time and service there as well. Grabbed the new bottles at the store on the way out.

Sunday. boy, what to say about Sunday... Was in line on Athens a little before 6am. My typical move is not dealing with the sh*t show up by the ferm and just hanging back on athens for these big releases. It was a mess. They ended up moving us back at one point to fit the 'overflow' from up top, fairly certain they were just out of towners who don't understand how it works at Tired Hands. Hung out for about two hours then walked and grabbed some breakfast. By the time I came back the line at the General Store was well over 50 people for open. Crazy. Once the big can line got going I was done by 12:45-1pm. Exhausting to say the least. Tons of line cutters and mules. These big releases with shakes just bring out a filthy element.

I agree with an above poster that Tired Hands mix fermentation game is top notch. The instagram photo today with them sampling the Side Project collab is such good news. Not sure why but I was worried it was just an IPA from when Cory visited a few months ago... Talk about something worth lining up for!!!!
