I would be surprised if that was really the reasoning. But Julie Foster's (Jean Broillet's wife) LinkedIn page lists her as "General Counsel at Tired Hands Brewing Company".

Assuming you mention Sly Fox as considering going via 422 - if you are going today, your options are limited as some places are not open on Mondays.
Later in the week, Hidden River is in Douglasville which is about 15 min from French Creek SP.
Assume this means you are heading back to NJ? on 78 or 22 afterwards?

My personal preference would be Sly Fox and I prefer the brewpub location in Phoenixville vs. Pottstown for on-site consumption.
Sly Fox can accommodate that readily for you. Maybe a mix of 6-packs? Some suggestions:
    • Helles Golden Lager
    • Pikeland Pils
    • Royal Weisse
    • Grisetter Summer Ale
I am personally a fan of Pikeland Pils, especially on draft at the brewpub.

I hope you enjoy your camping trip and I hope you have tons of mosquito repellent. A number of years I did a combo bike trip & camping to French Creek with my brother this time of the year and we did not bring any mosquito repellent and I came home with what felt like a hundred bites.

    Cheers!

P.S. I do not know your full schedule for your visit but I would highly recommend a visit to Hidden River Brewing in Douglesville, PA. They are open Thursday - Sunday.

Yup, Jean's wife is an attorney. I have spoken to her, a pleasant young lady.

    Cheers!

I failed to specify... Friday arrival to camp... depart Sunday. Will try to do Sly Fox and Hidden River and heed your purchase advice. Thanks!

Wasn’t set on any route, so flexible, but yes, heading back to NJ after.

Victory makes some decent beers and are fairly local. They'll sell you cases at the brewery. They've also got some summer 12pack.

They aren't anywhere near the level of TH but if you want camping beer, their Prima Pils is solid

You're taking a risk that you will be sold a defective product?? Bullshit. That's not a reasonable risk of waiting on line for hours to buy something. No fucking way.

It's amazing to me that people will accept any level of crap and then be like, "they're a business they don't have to do anything for you!" Just because they don't have to, doesn't mean they shouldn't.

Also, you don't get money back just by showing up and saying you had a defective can, you have to trade in a full, leaking can. They're not stupid.

I don't think so, but the only reasonable explanation I can think of is that it was their practice of not leaving headspace in the growler causing pressure points in the growlers, leading to them failing.

At $25 a 4-pack, the quality expectation should be higher than "a crapshoot".

I said they should get their money back. And TH is actually giving them more than that. The expectation of getting even more than that back in silly. They aren't going to pay you for time in line...That's on the person standing there.

My preferred places in the Lehigh Valley are Funk in Emmaus and Lost Tavern in Hellertown.

As for camping beers - if you're going to drink from the cans - Sly Fox has a variety case with the 360 lids:

If you want easy drinking dark beer - Yards Brawler is now in cans - I think I paid $35 for a case.

Sorry to derail this thread, but any recs where to pick up that Sly Fox mixed pack? Looks phenomenal.

To relate this back to Tired Hands, does anyone have a clue what the beer they seem to have hinted at today on IG might be?

Should be able to pick the sly fox up at most stores that sell 12 packs, most wegmans, some giants and any beer distributors. The Tired Hands beer is Refreshing - the beer will most likely last until Friday.

But only in PA: "SRT, Vulpulin, and Pikeland Pils are available with 360-lids only in our Wide Open Variety Pack, which is currently only available on Pennsylvania due to antiquated litter laws in many of our other states of distribution."

I wish they would just start stocking it in the GS already.......I need AC in my life constantly. Come on Jean, get it done.

Hmmm, not so sure about that. Last time they made it I got there Thursday at 12:00 and got some of the last cans. I bet it sells out mid afternoon Thursday, it's a popular beer.

I'd add Bonn Place Brewing Company in Bethlehem to this list...I prefer Bonn over both places mentioned.
